And the funny thing is we all have a right to say what we wish.

Kinda like that.

whew...wow...no comment except on this...

"AND...WE NEED GOD BACK IN OUR COUNTRY!"

For the truly religious...God never left...so don't stres

just wanted to add...I, personally do not need to have "In God we Trust" on my money to prove I believe in God...I want my actions to prove that.

PEACE OUT! LF

Yeah as Deist, (as were some of the founding fathers) I'ld like to keep God out of my government please.

Yep, as an atheist, I definitely agree.  But that's why they came up with a wonderful thing called "Separation of Church and State"....well, that was the idea anyway, I'm not quite sure that exists anymore...but one can hope.

Personally, I wouldn't care if our money had a jabberwocky on one side, and bozo the clown holding up fingers to show the denomination on the other. Its just money. Its to spend. Its a barter chip, nothing else.
I do like how it used to say gold certificate, then it said silver certificate, now it just say 'In god we trust'. Guess we ran out of what the money originally symbolized, now we have to go on faith that its worth anything.

As for the rest of it, some I kind of under stand, some I Actually understand, and some I think is silly. As long as you're not hanging on my doorbell, insisting that I follow your beliefs, or using them as justification to hurt others, knock yourself out. The freedom to be yourself is what really makes an American. Period.

American presidents such as Theodore Roosevelt strongly disapproved of the idea of evoking God within the context of a "cheap" political motto. In a letter to William Boldly on November 11, 1907, President Roosevelt wrote: "My own feeling in the matter is due to my very firm conviction that to put such a motto on coins, or to use it in any kindred manner, not only does no good but does positive harm, and is in effect irreverence, which comes dangerously close to sacrilege... it seems to me eminently unwise to cheapen such a motto by use on coins, just as it would be to cheapen it by use on postage stamps, or in advertisements." "give to Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar". ( Jesus )

Just another way of looking at it. LF

 Religion and politics! ARRGH!
But glad we live in this country and can discuss things freely and without rancor!

I am a 12 year Veteran of the US ARMY, (SSG/E-6 Special Forces Medical Sergeant) I've fought in 2 different conflicts, I've rarely seen anyone who loves this country more than I...

3 of my sons were in the US NAVY, 1 still is.

So, I have to say that I am so very weary of reading these "I love America" rants.

I understand that you are very entitled to speak what's on your mind, I took schrapnel in both legs, to ensure that right for you.

However if you wish to be so "American", and express your very biased opinion, then go sign up, and support your opinion first hand, if not. let's just enjoy the quiet silence.

...does this make me the Bad American?

Sir William Marcus, I believe that I owe you a beer now, maybe 2 or 3...

*Applauds* Well done Julianne!!! *chuckles*shakes head*

I'll add my relative 2 cents on one variant:

"I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it".

I know it's fake too. I happen to enjoy aspects of it's entertainment value. It's soap opera for men and a guilty pleasure. Good thing you don't waste your time arguing about it...because I'm still trying to figure out the relevance of even bringing it up in this trite, copied, spammed post. I've seen it several times before.

To whoever originated (not SWM) this rant - yeah, I served for you to have the right to trot out such biased drivel. I find it interesting then, by the criteria you espouse - that I, who DID serve to ensure your right, don't live up to your standard as an American. Nice!

Thank you for the sacrifice you and yours have made...I'll buy the next round should we meet at fest.  As much as I hate this type of "political spam" the writer does have every right to express it, whether or not they served in the military.  See, that's what makes this country great, no one has special privileges.  That's also what makes our soldiers superior in my eyes to those of other nations, they get nothing more for their service than the next guy, often much less.  Becoming a soldier is truly a selfless act.

Speeking of buying the next round, I offer any combat vet attending MNRF a mug-o-mead should they be there when I am.  And if mead is not your style we'll have to find some good old stout!
