Would look in a bodice?  Hope I spelled that right.

Or would that be a bad thing?

Damn did I screw this up?

Well ya Bill...but one must take care here...

TX and AK are close.

Yea, I don't know a whole lot about her Baron. But what I do know, I'm not real fond of her, but then again I'm not real fond of the candidate either. I don't mind discussing things about her or him or even the guy I'm voting for, ya know, that other guy. Everybody can say what ever they want about either candidate-free country. And it really comes down to november who will be Pres and VP. Until then, we'll all keep discussing why we think it should be our candidate.

Notice I skimmed right by your first post.

Beyond the rum and beer stuff...

The last time I checked were all adults and should not be treated as children.

And the only thing that can destroy that convo are little minds.

The previous thread being closed had nothing to do with who started it.

Religion and politics are touchy subjects on open forums, including this one.  Don't be surprised if this thread and the Jesus thread are short lived too.  This is a private forum, and John and I reserve the right to delete threads without notice when they cause problems both public and private here.  Most people can have open discussion like adults, but it only takes a few to ruin it for everyone.  In that sense, it's best to take away the fuel from the fire starters.  Any more problems beyond that and the fire starters get snuffed themselves.

Just my two cents, but....
All of us understand that political discussions are ripe for a flame war.  I think (for me, at least) the problem comes from the fact that Dreg's thread never got there.  10 or 11 pages and over 150 posts and there wasn't so much as name-calling.  Granted, that's probably small compared to some of the other threads here, but still it's not bad.  We had been conducting ourselves as adults, when out of the blue, "Ok, kids, back to the Faire-type stuff.  Nothing to see here."  Being told "it's not Faire related" when it was posted in "Mundane Topics", where LOLcats, lightsabers and ghost stories are the norm, seemed a bit...off... as well.
Anyways....it's your "world" guys, so whatever decision you make is what it is.

I very seldom discuss politics or religion, because I like my friends and want to keep them. Most people have very strong opinions or beliefs about the subjects, as they should and that's their right and I'm good with that. I also have mine, doesn't mean we can't be friends, just means sometimes it's easier not to discuss things we don't agree on. While the threads seemed calm there were fires burning and I can see why they pulled them before the all out flames started. We're all here for the fun, lets have fun!
Don't forget to smell the roses, but watch out for the thorns!

While I agree that we can discuss and behave as adults, and that there was no nastiness in that thread, I believe what DB was saying the conversation may have caused some PRIVATE nastiness, perhaps in person or via PM. So maybe not everyone was being as civil and adult as we thought. Just something to think about.
Masquerading as a normal person day after day is exhausting.

Yea...once I took my "Pissy McCrabbypants" hat off, I realized that I had no idea what was going on behind the scenes.  Oh well, it sure was fun while it lasted!  :P

As a vet of many a specific-interest-forum, all the good ones have a no politics and no religion heavy moderator policy.

The fact we allow the ones go as far as we do here is quite surprising.  I even participated a bit, which I usually avoid like the plague.

As to the we are all adults here . . . political and religious discussions (followed closely by sports), tend, emphasis tend, to devolve the maturity of those participating.  When one of those kinds of threads start, if they are allowed to, it is seldom a question of if they will be locked/deleted; it is almost always a question of when.
