Lady Rebecca

Gem, you're filling all that in? I am in awe of your patience!

And that bodice looks really great! But come to think of it, you really do have a ton and a half of patience... I would never be able to do that many mockups...

I am still waiting on my order from Sapphire And Sage for another  2 dozen of the Emerald Cabachons on the Gold plated settings so that I can finish the Pelican Portrait gown bodice and make the belt belt as well. I am getting paniced because I still have a lot of hand sewing to do before I can finish the bodice.

I promised my client a mid August deadline. I ordered the cabachons 7 weeks ago.

Gem, I cant believe you are hand sewing each little section.  But it is looking wonderful.

(Cough) I remind you that you drafted an entire corset pattern from a picture.  But thanks! I like having a project that doesn't require a lot of thinking to do.

I've made myself sew at least 30 minutes a day lately.  Things have been nuts but I need some time to myself to keep my sanity.  So far I've got about 2 square yards of my "scarp fabric" for Lady Stitch's skirt done. I actually had to move to pieceing it on the floor.  I couldnt' keep it flat on the table it was getting so big.

I've got enough of the scraps to make quite a bit of fabric, but I'm not sure how much I will need.

What kind of skirt should I make from it?

All of this amazing work is so much fun to watch come together!  I love this forum! ;D
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

When you do a scrap fabric piece how do you sew the pieces together?  Zigzag across the edges or right sides together or other?

When I did my original scrap cloaks and hats I would fold over and edge and then zig it on. This way there was no edges to fray on the front side of the fabric.  On this skirt,  I over lapped the fabric about 1/2" and then zig zagging over the uncut edge.  I want some fraying to the fabric.  I don't care if I have to patch it later since , well it IS all patches.

I'm really excited to see your scrap skirt, Lady S!!!  Can we get a pic of the "in progress" fabric, maybe?

I was thinking of doing that tonight.  If anything I'm also sorting my fabric. All red stuff in one box, blue in another, white, on another , and black in another.  All bits to small to be used for something practical end up in my skirt.  Anything too small for that ends up in the bin. :)

Do you think a layered skirt would be too heavy?  Or should I just do a really pleated skirt?  I really can't deside.

I think it would depend on the fabrics being used, and what time of year you're planning to wear it.  For spring/summer I'd go with pleated, but really early spring and late fall (even in TX) can get nice and cool.  If they're lightweight layers, then you could wear it whenever you like.
