Lady Kett

Nice work Dragonwing! The spouse unit has advised me that he likes it so much he'd like one in similar cut! Oh boy, make 1 pair of bloomers and 1 doublet, and then he gets grandiose ideas about modifying patterns! :D

Kate XXXXXX

Make a trial run in something cheap and go for it!  Pattern personalization rocks!

ArielCallista

actually, It looks like Simplicity 4059...I'm not sure if this is the pattern he used but this looks just like it

Things are shaping up to be...
Pretty. Odd.

 :D  Thank you Auntiegiggles

:D Thank you LordPaulet, believe it or not, I had no trouble with the fabric. It shocked me too.

:D Thank you Lady Kett, this doublet went together very easily. And as ArielCallista mentioned, it is pattern 4059. I am doing the short doublet for myself and will start that this weekend.
And as Kate said do a trial run in cheap fabric first.

Looking good, Dragon Wing!!!!

Photos as promised on the Pelican Portrait gown. The Bodice is not finished. There is still much to do. Most of it by hand. Sewing on the picadils will be a challenge due to the thickness. I have sturdy Leather needles that I wil use.

The Bodice Front. much yet to do.

Looking great DragonWing.  But looking at your picture reminded me.  My Hubby had a problem with the cuffs staying in place and not coming down.  So I, yes I know its been almost a year, still need to sew them up or something to keep them from continuously falling down.  Just to give a heads up in case it becomes a factor for your house too.

Lovely work Lady Kathleen.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Lady Kathleen you put us all to shame. That is  :o WOW!!!!  Very pretty.

LadyShadow, I am having the same problem so I will be tacking them in place.

Another crude, unfinished Bodice Shot. I will be adding large hooks and eyes in the front so it will close. I have tone of fresh water pearls to sew on yet. It's coming along!!!

Thank you, DW!! You cannot imagine how many nails I have busted over this project. But it has been my most challenging to date.

Lady Kathleen,  I have to say your customer is certainly getting what they paid for in that beautiful gown.  Very nice work.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

It appears that I am going to have to redo the peasrling on the picadils. I am not overly happy with the wiring I used at first. I will have to string string the pearls I did on the gown and whip stitch them to better anchor them.

The Bodice is ready to add the lining and shoulder rolls.

AKK!  I hate having to do work over again like that.  Commiserations!  But I know the perfectionist soul will not let them out the door in less than stellar quality.

Amen.  I deptest having to redo work but I would rather it go out the door looking good that leting bad work out there with my name attached to it.

Lady K, to save your fingers try looping some chamos cloth ( the buckskin looking stuff they use to shine cars) I use it when I am beading on leather, it keeps the needle from jabbing your finger.

My first post in this thread. My wife is making her first chemise, Frankensteining a simple blouse pattern, McCall's 5401. She's using a simple cotton muslin for the material. Here it is partially laid out. I'll post more as she progresses, and post the finished chemise in the finished projects thread.

Dustin

Here it is mostly put together. She just has to put the elastic in and finish the hems. Next post will be in Gallery of Finished Projects.
