Wow, she's been busy this evening!  Looking good!  But it's YOUR b-day today!  Why isn't she making something for YOU?!?  heheh

We have a schedule of stuff that's getting made. The chemise was next on the list, followed by a dress to go with it from that material she found at Goodwill, then slops and a doublet for me out of a bedsheet that's a similar color, also from Goodwill.

THE LIST... I know how those go.  I have one that I work off of too.  Although mine is not completely followed in order.  Depends on what I have fabric for and what is more pressing to make.

Sounds like the family will be getting new garb all around this season!  Sweet!

I love to recycle old sheets! They are so comfy to wear nice and light weight, dyeable. The hems can be used for elastic casings, the big folded down part on the top is a swell waist band...

err sorry I get carried away lol

No pictures, but a little self back patting.  I'm "this" close to finishing my Spanish ropa/Italian overgown.  It's a lovely antique gold jacquard with a beautiful coordinating trim (with little criss cross ribbon in the center).  Aside from a little handstitching, it just needs to be hemmed and I bought some nice glossy embroidery thread to do a fancy stitch for the hem - maybe another couple of weekends.  It's taken several weeks because it's just too hot to do a lot of sewing on the weekends.

Special thanks to Aicha for the pattern - I couldn't have done this without you!

I am working on a gypsy skirt, the tiered kind, which I hope I NEVER have to make again!  I am officially scared from all of the pleats and stick pins now! ;D
Anywho, it is made of cotton gauze and I am thinking of not hemming it.  I think it looks better.  My question is how does cotton gauze fray?  Will it get bad or just be a bit?  Thanks!

LOL!  My newest shirt is made from recycled sheets.  Very comfy & soft as well as breathable.

I have one in progress project, and a second one that is still in my head.  both would be the same style doublet, but different colors.  They will be fabric on the upper portion (chest & back), then brown leather on from the chest/shoulder blades down.  One green, one red.  Green one is in progress.

This talk about reused sheets reminds me when I did this garb in 2008

I still have gold on gold striped ones to use.

Alright not a ren-project, but this is the dress that's taking up all of my free time:
Sorry, kinda image heavy.

The bodice is done (sans the sleeve trim), and I've started on the skirt. Cut the strips of organza and roll-hemmed the edges...

My wife is almost done with her new ren dress. It's a bodice with attached skirt, to wear over her new chemise. It's made from the roll of home decor fabric she found at Goodwill for $2.38. It's a burgundy brocade. Here it is hanging over the chemise. After this picture was taken, I added eyelets to the bodice for lacing. Tomorrow, she's going to adjust the length and hem the bottom, then it will be done!
