Lady Isabella

Ok now the underskirt is put together.

Now I need to add pearls and hem both skirts.

Lady Isabella, I have a question to toss at ya.  :D

Is there a reason for having the front waist band lace closed in the front? Is just for ease of putting it on, or is it part of the pattern?

Lady Rebecca

That's how I do it too, for the overskirt. It doesn't make sense to me to do it another way, since the skirt opens up in front anyway. What way do you do it?

Lady Isabella

The pattern calls for hooks and eyes. But this way it can grow with Kendyl. I made it so the edges of the waist band will almost touch when tightly laced closed. But it could have a couple inch gap and still fit good. It might be over kill with three grommets on each side. But I really wanted it to lay flat under her bodice. The waist band is three inches wide. A little wider than the patterns usually call for. For the most part I followed Margo Anderson directions.

Really beautiful, Isabella.  It's always so hard to find the right trim. This is just perfect.

Valencia, that's awesome! Love it, and the hat is totally yummy.  :)

DW yes to the pearls! A proper Lord can never have too much bling.

Thank you, I really appreciate that! I'm so self conscious about a hat. : )

Not Ren-related, but with Halloween coming up, my son decided he needed a Dr. Horrible costume. I had a pattern in mind when I started this project, and ended up not even using a pattern at all. This is modeled on the red lab coat Dr. Horrible wears at the end of the movie. It still needs the other sleeve, buttons, button holes, hem, and the belt at the back.

I used dark red cotton duck for the coat. The gloves were ordered online.

The welding goggles need to be spray-painted silver and roughed up, but it's coming together quite nicely.  ;D

And I almost forgot - a pocket on the front is also still needed.

Looking good!  I love Dr Horrible.   ;D

Taffy Saltwater

Dr. Horrible just rocks all over the place.  Nice lab coat - very well done.
Sveethot!

Looks like he's joined the Evil League of Evil...*insert evil laugh here.... :D

Nicely done.  :)

Valencia

LOVE the coat, well done!!! Great costume idea, too!

He's going to wear this to school... I wish I could see the look on his teachers' faces when he walks into the classroom, LOL. He's intending to stay in character pretty much all day, too.  ;D

Now that I think of it, in a way, this is ren-related. I actually used the front and back pieces of his most recent doublet pattern (Margo Anderson Men's patterns), to get the shoulder slope, neckline opening, and a general sense of how to make the arm scythes. Other than that, and a modification to the sleeves, the pieces are just rectangles.

I love it when you measure your person, measure your fabric, follow the directions and then come out with a waist that's only 24 inches when it's supposed to be like 32 inches...
Still not sure where I went wrong in that harem pant pattern.

I also love it when you look at the cuffs at the bottom and realize you did one completely inside out.
