Lady Isabella

So I made Kendyl an Italian Bonnet. I used Lynn McMasters pattern, size medium, and one I found on the internet years ago,  From "Sempstress",  "The Floppy Toque". I don't know why I keep mixing patterns, but I do. Lynn's instructions confused me. I think I needed more pictures like in the Foppy Toque. I didn't give myself enough seam allowance on the fabric for the brim sections, so I had to add some brown bias tape to help turn the front edge. I had a little bit of trimming to do on the brim itself. I used craft foam as a stiffener. It looks a little sloppy underneath, but it is underneath afterall. She really loves it.......so I'm as happy as I can be.

Lovely Italian Bonnet.

I use Lynn McMasters patterns for Hats as a rule because they are easy to follow. But any Hat pattern will suffice because much of the same techniques are used.

The Eton Jacket is ready for finishing. I have some lovely Chocolate Brown satin that I am going to make bias binding with. As I was taking pictures and checking some of which I took, the lens jammed up. Rats! Now the camera will not work. What photos I took of the Jacket cannot be retrieved. Time to get a new camera I reckon.

Thje fabric for the Jacket is  Dark Brown and has a Crinkly texture to it.

Love the early 1890's stuff, Lady Kathleen!

Well done on the bonnet Lady Isabelle! Love that color, too!

Can't wait to see the finished product - the sketch and that fabric are really lovely!

Syrilla

Love the fabric combination!  And the blue adds that little extra pop.

Kate, sorry to hear about the camera!

amy

That stripe looks amazing.  I swear,  how do you ladies think of this stuff!?

Valencia

Oh, wow, that Victorian is amazing! LOVE the blouse!!!!

Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Thank you Valencia!

Unfortunately, the Digital camera is broken. I have the Eton Jacket ready for the actress to try on before I finishit and the rest of the ensemble.  That came out just right. The Jacket finishes the ensemble.

When I get a new camera, I will post photos. One ensemble down, two more to go.

We bought a new camera, Yeah!!!

Here are progress photos of the Ensemble with the unfinished Eton Jacket.. More will be coming as the actress wearing this ensemble is comong over to try things on.

The front view. The fabric is crinkly with lots of texture.

Side shot showing more detail. The Chocolate colored Satin will finish the lapel, bottom edge, and sleve edges nicely.

The back.

The belt is made of a printed cotton, which I also used as the jacket lining. No need to get more fabric. There will also be period looking buttons as well to finish the jacket.

So pretty. Love the colors and the way the fabrics come together. I have to ask..how did the Elton jacket get it's name. Google isn't helping here other than to reference John.
