Lol. Sorry! I was reading that off of my little phone screen. Saw it as Elton with an L. Of course I know about Eaton .

Thanks Lady Kett.

Janice in the unfinished ense4mble.
The Eton Jacket fit perfectly. I have to make the satin bias binding to finish it, and then sew on the buttons. The sleeves need shortening about 1", and the belt teaked a bit. Everything else was just right..

A side view of Janice, who is the actress that will be playing the part of Louise Mayo. She was very pleased and the Director said she looked lovely.

The pattern for the Eton Jacket was the pattern I posted earlier.

oh, that jacket... wow.... LOVE the color, love the texture, love the lines. The whole outfit is superb. But the jacket is spectacular. I love the Victorian stuff. : )

Lady Isabella, that hat is beautiful! Could you post a picture of the finished underside? I know it sounds silly, but my attempts at sewing a comb to the underside of mine at just the right angle have failed miserably--I need to see how it stays on her head :)
Sometimes you can't wait for the storm to pass; you have to just get out there and dance in the rain.

Lady Rebecca

I finished one sleeve today! The other one is about 1/3 done. But here are a couple pics - the bodice & sleeve, and then showing some of the trim I'd like to use. I only have 2 yds though, so I don't know if it will work out.

Lady Rebecca!! Very lovely so far.  The soft green works well. 17th Century???

About working with Gimp Trims, be sure the center design is going in the same direction be that up or down. You may have to cut your trim in selected pieces to achieve that where the trim is going to be placed on the bodice and the rest of the gown. It's a pain, I know. I wouldn't want someone to come up to you and say, "You know, your trim is ging in different directions."

Lady Kathleen, what did you use for interlining that jacket? I love the way it lays, and it doesn't look as stiff as mine, which I interlined with duck.

Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Valencia! If you look at the belt I made that lies between the blouse and the skirt, it is a Quilter's weight broadcloth. I used that to line the Eton Jacket.

The fabric for the Eton Jacket is a crinkly polyester with plenty of body. It did not need any underlining. The jacket is trimmed in Satin around the outer edges to give a finished look.

I will post new photos soon.

Here are photos for you, Valencia!!!

The fabric I used for the contrasting Belt, I used for the lining insid the Eton Jacket.

Cocolate Brown Satin that I made into bias strips to finish the outer edges of the jacket.

Closeup of the Jacket Fabric and Satin Bias .

Satin bias along the sleeve edge.

Satin Bias along the bottom edge.

The Play Director is going to bring me Vintage buttons to sew onto the jacket for decoration. That will be the final touch on this.

That satin bias is GORGEOUS. Thank you SOOOOO much for the pictures!! I need to be better about choosing the right linings and interlinings... this really helps me. I thought (and I think I said this before) that it was duck for interlining no matter what, and I can see how not true that is. I really need to take into account all three fabrics together, or even just two, like you did, depending on the weights. That jacket is amazing, I swoon a little every time I look at the photos. You do amazing work. :)

Yes, 17th c. And it's actually not gimp trim. It's kind of hard to see in the pic, but it's a lace trim with oval pearls stitched onto it. Here's a closer look.

Thanks for clearing that up. I can see that it's pearls and not gimp!!

Lady Kathleen MacLeod,
I left the hats in my trailer after dress rehearsal Sunday, so I can't take any pictures. I'm 3 hours from the faire site during the week. But I will take some this weekend, opening weekend, and post them next week! I can tell you that my hair is pulled back by combs, very tight. Or you could have it in a ponytail, I've done that also. Then another comb is sewed in the back of the hat on the inside of the brim with the "combs" facing the inside the hat. Then I just slide in under my hair, back to front. Holds all day. Even in wind. Hope that helps you.....until I get some pictures.
