Wonderful job, Lady Kaalyn! I don't think I'd have even attempted it while pumped up on pain meds!!!

Very nice corset!  I'm so impressed, too, at how you hit the ground running after that class . . . I still haven't really even looked back at my notes!

I need to hit up some websites and buy some steel boning and other supplies, too.

Today's efforts...

Ironed 5.5m of 150cm linen.
Cut out out purple over dress.
Sorted out thread for above...
Sewed up the first rain cape, and did the shoulder seams of shell and lining on the second.

Need to sew up the 6" of hem where I turned it through (it's bag lined), and sew on the three wooden toggles...

Nice rain cape. Separate hood maybe?

Thank, and yes.  Separate hood on shoulder cape, so it can be worn without the rain cape at need, as well as giving some extra cover to the shoulders.

LadyShadow

Lovely projects all. Keep up the great work.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

The rain capes are awesome! I'd always wondered what one should do for inclement weather. Somehow a World Wildlife Fund umbrella doesn't quite capture the spirit of things.  :D

Many many moons ago, I made a walking cape out of DWR (durable water-repellant) microfiber--that same stuff mundane raincoats are made from, where the water just beads up and rolls right off. It took me ages to find a vendor, and there weren't a lot of colors available, but I think the fabric is beautiful--it looks like a heavy sanded silk. Completely rain-proof, but it fits in beautifully at Fair.

Click here for close-up of trim.

I don't like to wear it, though; for whatever reason I don't love how it looks on me. These days I wear my wool pirate coat on rainy days. I don't actually love that, either, but I'm less self-conscious b/c I didn't make it! LOL

...This is one reason I'm constantly on the hunt for new rain/mud garb! Fortunately, I have lots more of the DWR in my stash. :)

Escoffion-Still needs combs....Should I place those all the way round inside?  I need some pointers on how to put this on.

Whew, it's taken me forever to catch up to what everyone is doing! Great projects, people! The escoffion looks great, Rowan!

After a long break (3 years!), I am finally, finally going to make myself a new dress! I just got my silk samples from Silk Baron today! Now I have to pick exactly which shade of red to order. Decisions, decisions!  ;D I am making myself wait to order the fabric until I reach a specific point on my weight-loss journey, but now that I have samples, I can plan trims and designs!

I'm so glad to finally be feeling good enough to be enthusiastic about faire again!!!!!!!!!! ;D

Glad you are back, Lady Rosiland!!

As or Silk Baron, I love them! They have the nicest Dupioni Silks for very reasonable price per yard. I spent $270.00 on 18 yards of a Creme and Eggplant Purple for a  Commission I will be doing for a  December 2013 wedding. The Purple is for the inside of a Lined Cloak.

Silk Baron has a lovely Blood Red Dupioni called Black Cherry that I am planning to order to make this Borgia Gown for myself...

I think three should be enough. Have you considered button trim inside for bobby pins?
