Whew, it's taken me forever to catch up to what everyone is doing! Great projects, people! The escoffion looks great, Rowan!
After a long break (3 years!), I am finally, finally going to make myself a new dress! I just got my silk samples from Silk Baron today! Now I have to pick exactly which shade of red to order. Decisions, decisions!  ;D I am making myself wait to order the fabric until I reach a specific point on my weight-loss journey, but now that I have samples, I can plan trims and designs!

I'm so glad to finally be feeling good enough to be enthusiastic about faire again!!!!!!!!!! ;D
Thank You Dona!

Thank you Lady Rosalind!  I look forward to seeing you this year again (IMHO you always look exceptional, you are my inspiration!)

*sigh*  I  need to get my butt in gear and lose some of this post wedding/middle age weight I'm carrying around nowadays.  I'm not gonna be a size 7 again, but I want to get back to a healthy weight.
My step-daughter as lost 80 lbs so far and wants to drop an additional 50, (Zumba and a healthy diet, no surgery) and she makes me feel seriously lazy for not dropping the 30 I want to.
My problem is I need more exercise than I have been getting in the last couple of years.   I have a lot of energy, and I had an active and physical job for 24 years in the military, then poof-office work.
I have a step son who does the yard work (I used to LOVE that), and I seem to give myself every excuse to not be out there getting the daily 3 mile power walks I used to love...I need to dust off my IPod and get in gear .
What doesn't kill me-had better run.

Glad you are back, Lady Rosiland!!

As or Silk Baron, I love them! They have the nicest Dupioni Silks for very reasonable price per yard. I spent $270.00 on 18 yards of a Creme and Eggplant Purple for a  Commission I will be doing for a  December 2013 wedding. The Purple is for the inside of a Lined Cloak.

Silk Baron has a lovely Blood Red Dupioni called Black Cherry that I am planning to order to make this Borgia Gown for myself...

That's the color I am ordering - great minds think alike!

A New Commission for a client in Ohio after I get a multi-layered Wedding Dress hemmed and Bustled.

A funky styled Pirate coat redrafted from the SIMPLICITY 2172 Steampunk pattern with the long skirt http://www.simplicity.com/p-6060-misses-steampunk-costume.aspx

Coat Back...

Coat Fabric and Lining...

THE Coat Fabric is a darker Maroon Bengaline Taffeta. I found a  lovely Antique Gold and Black Decorator trim, with Tarnished Gold Swirled buttons.

Thank you, Lady Shadow.

I made a mockup of the Pirate Coat for my client in Ohio to try on. After I hear from her as to how things fit, I then can proceed.

I will be doing a Captain Teague ensemble for the Client's husband. BOth are going on a  Disney Cruise in December to the Bahamas. One of the Nights will be docked for a  Pirate Night Party. There is supposed to be a Best Dressed Pirate Contest they want to win with Monied Prizes. I wonder how many men will have a Captain Teague coat?

Mom's cloak (her Mom's Day present) is almost done!   This is a picture of the hood as taken with the camera phone.  The cloak is lined in blue satin, interlined in cotton flannel, and made of a wool twill.  I need to finish the hood (it needs a "patch" where it's gathered) and hem it.

LadyShadow

Lady Kathleen, That sounds like a wonderful cruise to be on, and I am sure what you make will be superb as always.

Isabella, the cloak looks beautiful. I love the color of the lining.

Gorgeous.  Is it black or a very dark blue?  There is no such thing as too much detail, lol.  I love the fussy stuff.
The slashes on the skirt and bodice are wonderful.  You lined them with grey satin?

As they say, Kat, "the devil is in the details."

Stunning! I look forward to see that ensemble when I am at Bristol in August.

Very dark blue. The lighting in my apartment is quite crappy. And yes, the s-curve slashes are lined with a grey taffeta, actually.

All the detail work can be followed in previous posts on my blog: http://theradclyffe.blogspot.com
