Took a HUGE leap today (had some help doing it) and made a test glove from the new butterick pattern

It has some tweaking to do but the next ones should be spot on. I plan on making them out of lamb leather either green or black and put buttons on them. The style I made was D and instead of the lacing I will use buttons that match my new dress. I'll post pictures when I can. My hands are NOT small and they fit like a glove (no pun intended... well maybe a little)

The one thing I would change from the pattern is to make the wide sections as one piece instead of two as two pieces sewn onto the main part of the glove does not look right. I think I would also consider not making the end not as rounded as the pattern makes them (not the same as in the image which isn't as rounded).

OH I am SO excited as I was having a local leather worker modify a pair of gloves. She is not in a huge hurry and I have been waiting 6 months. Might as well save myself some mega bucks and do it myself.

I am working every spare second I can scrounge up on this one.  I am currently attaching navy blue piping to the bodice and cutting one million pieces for the paned capped sleeves during no-sew hours...silly neighbors and their "sleep".

Looking good!  Love the colours.

For late night sewing, you need a treadle!  Silent But Deadly...   ;)

At Last!  I have Garb to post!

Incomplete, but I can't wait!  ;D ;D

The lovely Royal Palaces kirtle pattern that Gem found.  Green cotton outer, brown cotton lining.  Stitched eyelets and whalebone replacement boning (polyester).

And some pretty neat stitching!  Yeah, boasting...  Not so good, but I love these little stitches!

For all you faerie lovers!

The garment is mostly pinned together, and is comprised of 2 pieces 1) A pocketed, 1-sholder apron 2) A light fae underdress.

The apron is done, but the tatters on the underdress need to be finished, and some closures need to be sewn on.  I made it out of scraps, like yarn, leather, gauze, velvet, and the tassles from my graduation cords (icicles).

I was inspired by a series of faerie doors, and by winter, hibernation, and decay.  Hopefully I'll finish it soon (if anyone's interested I will probably sell it).  I really was just itching to make something again.

toodles!

ps: here are some of the faerie doors

This dress looks marvelously detailed.  I'd love to see it on a person to really get the affect of all the different fabrics, lengths, and textures.  I do hope you'll post more!
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

What a wonderful idea for a Fairie gown!!  As well as not throwing way scraps.

I bought the same pattern too. I need to fashion some gloves as well for my garb on those cooler days.

It's a little tricky to do them. One thing is if you have long fingers make sure the cuts are deep enough Also on the gussets there is a right way and a wrong way that the instructions didn't show or if they did I keep missing them. I have the leather ones done or almost done. They are all together and I have buttons on the buttom edge that match my new dress. I want to do some more finsih to them but may get around to posting a photo today.

If you have problems making the gloves,

She is the diva of gloves, especially period ones.
Not to mention a super nice lady.

One for the boys:

And with the lining and contrast collar pinned in place:

Need to do the sleeves and get the lining sewn in properly...  Should be finished tonight.

Another one from the Nearly Finished Heap!  Finally seeing the end of the tunnel!

I need to lose some of the excess weight - breathing is optional in this one right now!

This one is an eye popper!
Very nice work.
