Cilean

Hello!

I have been making parts of this outfit forever....I have made all sorts of things just so did not have to sew yards and yards of trim all over the fabric, but I am now in the final phases of this thing I just want it done so I can wear it!!

So here is the doublet bodice:

Here is the trim from the back:

Trim Placement down the front of the skirting:

And this is the last and longest here is across the bottom trim:

So when I finish the trim, I will add the lining with the extra wool, then I will begin cartridge pleating.

Hopefully?? In the soon future......I can put this in the Finished Section.

Cilean!!  Very lovely!!  The Plum Jacquard is beautiful. The pattern looks very similar to one I have in Black. Can't wait to see the rest of the ensemble.

Doesn't the Florentine lily have some extra flowers between the petals, compared to the French fleur-de-lis? Or are they overlapping in look? (heraldic symbols isn't my forte....)

The trim looks like French fluer de lys but the embroidery on the sleeves seems to have the "extra flowers".

That looks nice, Cilean! I really like fleurs-des-lys.

The Italian Styled Doublet for Toki....

This Doublet is made from a medium wale corduroy in a  deep wine color. Gold Decorator piping, Maroon and Gold buttons, Gold on Black trim. I took a basic Doublet pattern and redrafted it into 3 seperate sections. Underlined in a black Quilter's weight Broadcloth. When the doublet is worn, the buttoned sections will show the underlining.

The doublet back showing more of the detailing. I have the picadils to attach, sew in the lining, make the buttonholes, and sew on the buttons. I hand sewed the armsythe because of the thickness of the Shoulder rolls.

Sleeve detail. I also redrafted the sleeve into 3 sections as well.

The sleeve as the same Doublet.

Gorgeous work, Lady K!  Such a gorgeous color.

Completed chemise & semi-complete underskirt for my sea nymph garb:

Bodice & overskirt "water" fabric - I'm want to drop a pound or 15 so I'll make up the bodice closer to TRF:

Finally, a Victorian corset for another project - this really does make an hourglass:

Looks good! Do I understand correctly that the body is basically "paned" then stitched to the black lining?

Taffy- Love the look of the water fabric over the sealife underskirt!!!

That is correct, Sealion!!

Each section or pane, is sewn with piping, then stitched where the buttons are. Then set onto the underlining and stitched. The doublet will be lined in a Quilter's weight Broadcloth similar in color to the Corduroy with patterned swirls called Florentine that I bought at Hancock Fabrics a few weeks ago.

The process I did for the Doublet body, I also did for the sleeves. It's fun and challenging to take a basic pattern for something and make into something completely  different.
