Lady Renee Buchanan

Got back from my girlfriend's house with bee-you-tee-ful bloomers!  She told me (and showed me) what to do for the most part, and I did it.  We ended up cutting about 2 inches off each side.  Three inches from the top at the waist, and 3 inches off of each leg bottom.

I used her serger to finish the raw seams.  I was a nervous wreck (Renee + knife by fingers can be deadly) but I did it!  I had to pick up one of our waitstaff and drive her to work this evening, so at 3:10 p.m. I asked my friend would we be done by 3:30 so I could pick her up.  She said "no, but you can take this home and work on it tomorrow."  At which point I told her I needed to WEAR these tomorrow.

Jeanne went into fast forward mode.  End of Renee doing sewing.  She did the serging and casing for the waist, put the elastic in and tacked it at the seams, then sewed the elastic right onto the legs (as a professional, she would have made a casing and inserted the elastic, but I said, whatever works the quickest).  Then hemmed both legs, all in about 10 minutes.  Which is the time it took for me to sew one seam.

I will take pictures tomorrow at Bristol and when Steve downloads them, I will post them.  I love my new polka dot bloomers!

I did it!!   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hello all!  Been a while since i've posted..Everyone on this site has been so inspiring and helpful.  I'm so excited to announce that with your expert advice and ideas, I am well on my way to finishing the nobility garb (my 1st)  i have been working on since at least January.

However, being extremely techno-challenged... ???..I have no clue how to post the pics of it.  Can someone please help?  They are downloaded to my computer  but beyond that i just don't know.  Thanks!

LOL Renee, they look like my first sewing job and bloomers as well. I managed to sew them down so they fit fight and while they really stick at the job I did, I wear them and they are very comfy.

HUZZAH to you and better luck in the next venture. Me? I'm still to afraid to try anything else, besides my sewing machine has gone wacky on me and won't sew right.

Great Job Renee!  Those are too fun!  And your stories really make them better!

Thank you all for you ideas and suggestions for my daughters dress updates.  We took your advice with the decoration of the foreskirt and sleeves and here is the progress so far.    We had to get it up and running yesterday for an impromptu appearnce at a little girl's Princess Birthday Party, so excuse the crown (that is not part of the regular garb)  And the supportace and collar are still missing.

Thank you all again for your coaching!

So, I've been working on some pirate garb. I really want to go to faire this labour day as a pirate. And while I know the outfit isn't going to be as piratey as it can get, I like my idea and I want to go with it because I can add to it in the future to make it more piratey.

Anyway, I started off with a pair of brown pants that have a drawstring for the waist. I had a little issue making the crotch the right size when I was patterning it, but I then pulled out a bunch of my real pants and looked them over for ideas and ended up doing the crotch the way they're done in my karate pants, which worked out wonderful.

Oh, and part of the reason that I am soo proud of them is that they are the first pair of pants I have ever made. He he he! YAY!

So, here they are. Part 1 of my pirate garb.

The pants.

(And yes, I am wearing them with my boots. Why not? The boots are oober comfortable!)
