Centuries, wow! Looking gorgeous!!

And I totally hear you on the fingers! While doing the embroidery on my smock (the first night of a very long project), I jammed the wrong end of the needle into my index finger--drawing blood and everything. Unfortunately, that is *the exact spot* where I drive the needle with every stitch, so I've since done it two or three more times, and I'm developing quite a bruise there! I haven't been able to hunt up my leather thimble yet, so it's off to JoAnn tomorrow! Ow!

The handsewn eyelets are done, I'm going to go ice my fingers now.  ;)

Did you tape your fingers?  I only ask because I always tape my fingers before hand sewing.  It helps with the pain and cuts.  Plus I can sew for longer periods.

Tape with what, Lady S?  Everything I've tried, the needle just punches through or gets gummy from the adhesive, or I lose too much dexterity. I would *love* to find something that works better!

redkimba

Have you tried "Thimble-it".  Its a plastic oval that will stick to your finger.  I use it for hand-quilting - it helps with the soreness (as in not getting it as quickly)

Gem - I use electrical tape and never have had a problem with the needle punching through it and can bend my fingers mostly (not completely, but enough to do what I need).  I use it when I had sew fabric and leather.

RedKimba - I think I might have to try those.

A few pix from my mad frocking weekend!

The green stays and the purple gown are mine, and the turquoise one belongs to my friend Su.  The stays still have pins in as I have yet to complete the binding round the top!  But they were good enough for fitting the lining for the purple gown, and therefore for starting on the pleats at the back. Need to add more width to the front of the skirts.  There will be a blow-by-blow account of the weekend tomorrow.

Lady Rebecca

Kate, that bodice looks perfect! And I can't wait to see those sack-backs finished. Lovely!

LadyShadow

Lookin good, cant wait to see finished projects.  or just more in work projects...  ;D

Adriana Rose

I love the color of thsoe stays!  Again I bow to your awesomeness!

Kate!!!  That's absolutely glorious.  Did you use a pattern for those stays? (I'm always interested in bodices/corsets/tops that are cut rather high like that, and curious about how that's achieved.)

I'm with Adriana on the colors--absolutely stunning! But I am *loving* all those gorgeous pleats.
