I think they are just saying that in an effort to keep people from coming up there too early...good luck with that... ;)

Hmmm, so i was thinking about the Mac and Cheese casserole that I am going to make and well, I don't know how I am going to be able to keep it warm on the 3 hour drive down. I am going to visit my Grandfather during the day and have lunch with him and make the dish at his house. He lives in Rockdale about 1-2 hours east from Austin. Then I have to drive from his house with the dish and take the 71 down to Giddings then take 290 out like normal.

I also have to figure out how to make a larger serving of the dish for a 13x9 pan rather than the 9x9 that the recipe calls for....

Is any one REALLY good at cooking and can help me with the right measurements and such to make the dish as it should be? Also do we have a way to heat up those two 13x9 glass cook pans? (I am making TWO 13x9 sized dishes to be sure everyone can have some and Blue can HORD some for herself.)

I have also decided that I have to make my favorite dessert as well. It just is not the holidays with out both of these sides for me. But it is a surprise as to what it is. I know no one will have it and it can be kept cold (much easier to do than keep something hot). I checked the list of items coming and Nope no one has anything even CLOSE! YAY! Suprise! It is kinda like my own Birthday dessert to myself.

so in light of the info regarding campground opening, we will plan on arriving 10-11am on Thursday.  Instead of smoking the bird, we'll bring peanut oil and fry the thing (thanks to him who brings the fryer!).  Blue, I sent my cell number to your yahoo account.  I am SO freakin' ready to BE THERE....

Being the optimist, I'll be in line Wednesday afternoon.

Hey, if they don't open the gate Wednesday, I can survise the night in the trailer. If any others are in line with me and it gets too cold, I can put up about 4 in the trailer (1 on sofa, 1 on dining room setting, and two "really" good friends on the lower bunkbed). The queen size master bed in the tilt-out is mine, mine, mine. I have spare sleeping bags, but then again, my furnace works quite nicely.

I'll be bringing my frying rig and two 20 lb gas bottles. Someone needs to bring the peanut oil (I believe Blue will have this covered).

I'll also be bringing a 14 lb turkey in addition to my 8 Cornish game hens (which are presently cut in half in preparation for the final simmering in the lemon juice/rosemary/butter sauce).

The trailer has a microwave and oven, so I can heat up what is needed and a refrigerator to cool what else is needed. In addition, I can setup the outside gas grill with a camp oven to heat small trays. I'll try to minimize the stuff I have in the refrigerator to keep space available.

Since the microwave and oven are compact, you will have to make sure your pans are of the smaller size.

I'll be bringing some firewood, but we will need alot more if it is cold. I even bought firewood from the quickie mart last weekend (gag - 12 pieces for $10).

How many tables are being brought? I'm wondering if I need to purchase some camping tables for events such as this.

Blue has my cell phone #, in case someone needs to contact me when I am in line at the gate or once I get in Wednesday or Thursday.

We're going to try to bring some mesquite wood from here in San Angelo. . . although it will be bigger logs since we have to transport it.

We are definitely set to be in line Wed night with you mpullen.  Our pop up has a generator so we should be okay running the heat if its too cold.  I think blue's going to ride in with us as well. . .

Does anyone have a big warm beverage type thing for me to keep the spiced tea in?  (it has rum in it!)

Yeah, I will be turning 21 on Wednesday the 26th. The day before Thanksgiving Day.

(however I looked into it a week ago and I was born on Thanksgiving Thursday the 26th which was also the FIRST thanksgiving day as well as the T-Day that actually declared a national holiday! YAY!)
