My favorite event(s) this weekend was definitely the Haggis Eating Contest.    It was a thing of beauty!
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Picture it - Iris & Rose early Saturday afternoon.Scots in kilts.  Scotland's Depraved.  Flashing of the strap on variety.  I about fell off the bench.  I think I&R were working overtime to continue their act.  This is one picture not posted on my photobucket page.

My favorite things this weekend:

Saturday we walked the parade in front of the barbarians in our fairy garb and had a blast "playing" with them while they chased us the entire parade.  We also had an awesome time playing fairy baseball with tons of little kids and a bunch of our friends.

Sunday my favorite part was hanging with Princess Mary.  She's just the cutest thing ever and plays her character so well.  I met her at Scarby this year a few times and became aquaintances, but I think yesterday we became "friends".  She's lot of fun to play around with for sure!!  Another very funny part was during the parade, King Henry threw a flower at me which hit my crown and knocked it off...  Last time I wore my QE1 garb, he did the same thing, my friends and I finally came to the conclusion that we think it's purposeful since he's a very funny guys... lots of fun!  I think next time I go in QE1 garb, I'm going to duck when the flower comes at me and pick it up afterwards!  hehe...

The kamikaze squirrel of Highland Weekend 08' will forever be remembered to Element and me.  ;D

We were walking past the front of Ravenswood Leather whenever ten or so feet in front of us, we see a roundish furball literally drop from the sky and plop loudly onto the ground. That furball, unravels into a squirrel that only spins around to stare at us before shooting off towards safety. In resulted in both of us dying with laughter because neither one of us knew what the hell had just happened. Definitely definitely priceless. I wish I had had a video-camera.
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

This was my last weekend for the season, and I really had a wonderful time. Bunny hung out with me most of Saturday and part of Sunday. I stole Kyle's flask of scotch, and he was only mad at me for a nanosecond - then he thought it was funny. I got my last waltz of the season with Capt. Basil Drake of the Pride o' Bedlam - ye gods I love that man!

I danced to the Rogues during their "Antique Rogues Shows" with Kathleen (of Queen Anne's Lace), Dove & Missy from MacClugh, Klaus von Cleeves (aka my ex-beau Drew), Clint from the Transylvania Court, and one of the fairies (I forget her name). Some of the dances were train wrecks, most were nostalgic, and all of them were a blast!

Bryan, Randy, Lars and Jimmy together again.... Seeing those guys, hearing those two pipes together again, and seeing the look of pure joy on Bryan's face, was by far the most wonderful sight I've seen in ages.

And the icing on the cake was EJ sitting in for a tune at the Sunday 2:00 show. Pure bliss!!!

This was our last trip this season.  We had everything packed up from the campsite and were about to pull out when I heard a bagpipe being played around row 6.  Sure enough, I could see a guy playing.  I almost started crying like a wee babe!  It was very touching and sad  :'(  Oh well, the countdown's on for next year!

Same thing happened to me at the same place about 4 years ago. Used to be a hat shop with a courtyard there before Ravenswood moved in. Was trying on hats with the sales girl & Rocky the not-so-flying squirrel crashed to ground between us. Wonder if it was the same klutzo squirrel?

Well I enjoyed finally meeting more of you guys.   Lady Ann, Taffy Saltwater, Teach and Trinn, KiltedPrivateer and Melkar it was great saying hi to you guys.   I've never really been able to make it to the meet and greet and believe it or not, I'm sort of shy about just coming up to you guys and saying hi.  Lord Zenok helped me out with the intros (smoochies!) and you guys were so nice.

This is not really an event, but I did see a most interesting costume. While hanging around the Drench a Wench waiting for the last Cast in Bronze show to start on Sunday, I saw a boy about 10 or 11 wearing a centaur costume, identical to the Centaur who hangs around the arena. He was bare chested and could only take small steps, but you have to give him lots of credit for making it all the way to Sherwood Forest and braving the cold. His father followed him, (both parents were not in garb), holding the hind legs of his costume up so he could walk. I was going to snap a picture but did not think it appropriate to photograph a boy walking into the privy. As he went into the privy, I remember thinking two things: 1) Kudos to his father for having the patience to "walk" him around all day and 2) how the heck is he going to... well, you know!
