On the wall of one of the privies (between the Drench A Wench and the Tomato Toss) somebody has scribbled, "TRF, it ain't Disney, is it?" My first reaction was, "If you don't like it, leave. Go to Disney," which is basically what somebody had already wrote.

However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized, I'm glad it's not Disney.

Think about it:

No more patrons in costume, because they might be mistaken for staff and negatively reflect on TRF.

No more alcohol. No smoking either.

No more camping. Of course there would be a nice hotel, for those who can afford it.

$75.00 per head for tickets. :o

No more listening to the Drench A Wench tease some guy about his failure to "get a woman wet," and no more Tomato Guy taunting people. We wouldn't want to damage anybody's self-esteem.

Animatronic Jousting. Don't want to offend any PETA members with real animals. ::)

Fireworks "enhanced" with lasers, and accompanied by Tartanic playing "It's a Small World." :P

No more chainmail, and no more cleavage. Heaven forbid someone should see boobies.

No more weapons for sale, and no more games using said weapons. We don't want to promote a culture of violence.

No, TRF is not Disney. Thank God.

I totally agree :-) Whoever wrote that was probably thinking of the imagination and whimsical side of things.

Ew, Minnie mouse in Chain....  :-X

Yay for TRF not being Disney. I grew up about 10 minutes from DisneyLand and love it dearly, but it does represent my childhood. And now TRF represents my Adulthood... (that kinda sounds wrong)

I left that California/Disney part of my life and moved on to Texas/TRF and do not want to two colliding. It would be horrible.

But imagine the entertainment budget!!!

Actually Disney does have Alcohol and smoking (albeit in designated areas.)  Heck, while I was there this past month, Epcot was throwing a huge beer and wine festival.  And it DOES have camping, you can even hang out around the camp fire with Chip and Dale.  It's also got assorted pirates and vikings.  No, you can't buy live steel, but you can buy the wooden swords and shields for the kiddos.

Disney and TRF are two different worlds, with two different goals.  To be completely honest, I love them both for completely different reasons.

Eek...no chain maille? What a nightmare scenario! I'd lose my mind!!  :o

And gimme REAL pirates anyday! No animatronics....ugh...the horror!!

But I have to admit, being that Disney can be sort of open minded....hearing and seeing photos of "Goth weekend" at DisneyWorld a few years ago made me smile!! I laughed picturing Mickey, Goofy and the lot taking photos with white pasty faced goth kids LOL in black leather and Alice Cooper makeup! What fun that would be!

defending disney,
disney is naughty with some not so perfect characters.... remember the fallic little mermaid castle?  and tinkerbell can be a vindictive and angry fairy... and look at captain hook?  i've met many a pirate at fair that reminds me of him.  i think TRF characters are not so far off some disney characters.

BUT thank god trf is NOT like disneyland or disneyworld!!  minney mouse in chainmail, hahahahahaha  that's killing me!!

Funny you should say that. I just pictured Minnie Mouse in a pink princess dress and a steeple hennin.

Hey wait, didn't Disney make Who Framed Roger Rabbit?  The image of Jessica Rabbit in chainmaille should ease quite a few minds around here...

I would like to see Ariel, Pocahontas, and Cinderella in Chain...and in my tent but that is where it ends.

DON'T GIVE THEM ANY IDEAS!!! Hope they aren't reading this. They're already twistedly evil enough to do it.

Disney use to do a lot of original interesting stuff, journey to the planets, etc that weren't just of kids.  Now days its mostly stolen copied stuff for the under 10.   They lost me when they turned Hunchback and Trazan into kiddies stories.

The last couple of years I went to DW for my birthday.  DW is a great place to find your inner child - hard to do at my age & just rolls the years back - at least for me it does.  TRF is a whole 'nother situation - margarita at 9 am - why not?  Bodice reminding me of the song "Hurt so good" & looking down reminds me that why, yes, I am a woman.

There's a place in my heart for DW AND TRF.  And when I die and go to hell, "It's a Small World" will be the soundtrack.
