I was crushed that they no longer had Young's D Chocolate stout or the oat meal stout. I drop about a 100 bucks on it in the POW.

Oooh oatmeal stout. Hadn't seen that one before. Now I gotta track it down! Specs here I come!

You will love it, the Youngs Oat meal stout is great, if you like oat meal or stouts. It's the best way to eat your oat meat in the morning.  ;D

I believe (I could be wrong) that they still have Samuel Smith's Oatmeal stout in the PoW pub...great for Breakfast! I know they did last year, but they started serving Sam Smith's Imperial Stout this year...and i find it hard to pass up something that glorious. The last two years I've seen an improvement in the beer selection, and that thrills me to no end. The fact it's no longer the Budweizer arena is a wonderful bonus.

While I do not consider myself a loyal texan, I will enjoy (each and every day) a Dr. Pepper. Shiner beer is quite nice too, we killed a keg of that tasty brew last weekend! (One of the few lagers I enjoy enough to even contemplate a keg).

Getting back to the subject of this thread (hint, hint).

Apparently the Mundanes have taken advantage of the boundary non-marking rule. The standard Drunken Gnome area has been overrun.

I'm going to be late coming out Thursday (or possibly even Friday) for Highland Fling weekend since we have no idea how long my Daughter's surgery will last and I want to remain with her until I have brought here home and made sure she is comfortable.

In the event I can't find a spot for the trailer, anyone have an offering for a displaced Gnome (this is a non-Gnome weekend, so only a couple of us will be there).?

MacLaren

I'm sure McLotofus can spare some space for the Gnomes. What weekend are you speaking of? I'm usually out fairly early, so I'd be happy to claim a bit extra. I've found out that staking is fine with a few ribbons, just no roping off, so let me know and I'll be there for marking for all of us.

Green Flame has a big clear area next to us that can be "acquired" as well, just give us advance wanring so we can tarp it down!

Amras Elfwine

The Elfwines had a great experience camping this weekend, and look forward to future trips.

They have double chocolate at the seadevil.

my belief of the no roping off thing is this, I think it was done because the weekend that Taarna and I went we kept running into road blocks due to area's being roped and the area's that were not roped were often times not accessable, and we do as clan members need to remember that people that are not part of a clan still want to camp and do need access to the untaken area's, more so than they (the faire mgmt) are trying to be a pain or intolerant of clan relationships and communal camping of clans. the thing about being territorial and overly aggressive can be handled thru the LEO's on site, be we also have to be tolerant of people setting up abd abutting the area we have marked and remember that they do need a place to camp as well and not be overly protective of our area boundries. if we police ourselves then mgmt won't have to get involved.

Hey - youse guyz - Rennies who have camped already this year... what's the blood count? Two years ago someone threw a keg in the bonfire and hurt some folks... everyone safe this year?

We have been struggling with the daily grind to get up to Renfest, and are FINALLY making it this weekend. YEAH!!!!! Jumping in a circle, big boobs jiggling... you get the idea. :)

We've decided to move into the family section this year because last year the drunks were driving too near the tents for comfort. Someone smasked a trailer right outside our area. Grim...
I heartily endorse camping and drinking. But drunk campers shouldn't try to drive - its hard enough to stagger convincingly. :)

Speaking of which, did I mention I am now a CERTIFIED kilt inspector. (leer)

first read this thread, Problems with the community fire, than read this current thread to get a good perspective on how things have changed since the "powder keg"

MacLaren

Indeed things are changing for the better. I've seen quite a few now in chrome bracelets. Are those period? It'd be nice to see them in period shackles!! Wouldn't THAT be a riot!!!

The camps are getting better after much complaint. Just a few can ruin a good time, but those few are getting thrown out with regularity now.
