Anybody have one of these bad boys?  My manual is in the storage unit & I need to make button holes.  If you do, please let me know - maybe you could scan me a copy or input the instructions.  Thanks!

don't know how much this will help but good luck with those buttonholes! Hope you don't have to make a trip to storage!

After spending a huge hunk of the day yesterday surfing the "Interweb", I woke up this morning & thought - you big dummy, you've got a Brother in the closet.  I'd bought it earlier this year, unboxed it, peeped "Mama" & hid it.  A quick glance at the manual shows it does TEN button holes.  I'm spending this weekend learning how to bobbin & thread it.  and if I can get that done, maybe, just maybe, button holes.

Giggle...

Oh dear, taffy!   ;)

They're not the prettiest button holes - actually there's more than a few that are plain old doggy - but, by damn, they're button holes!

Taffy!!! What a grat feeling it is!!!  Keep practicing!!!  They get better the more you do them!

When I bought my Janome  2 years ago, the first thing after I got it all plugged in was look at the Instruction book to read HOW TO DO BUTTONHOLES. Once I set the machine to the correct Mode, found the piece, put the button in the slot, set everything up, I made a buttonhole!!  I made a number of buttonholes to get a feel for the machine.

I played with the machine for several hours that night doing the Decorative stitching dsigns. The rest is history.

Remember that you do have to jiggle with tension and stitch density to get the best results on different fabrics...

Also, I like to use silk embroidery thread like the YLI or Coates Seta Reale, both of which are 100 weight threads.  Rayon embroidery thread is also a good one for buttonholes.
