I'm gonna be getting some new garb soon and want everyone's opinion. Are baggier pants considered more period than straight skinnier pants? I was looking at both of these styles and need some help choosing. Do you consider these period? I'm not much into tights so thats why I wanted pants, but not anything too medieval. Thanks.

Aww come on! A fella in tights is a very reare treat!

I know a bunch of guys who swear by their wrap pants, It all really depends on what you feel comfy in. Also from what you have been saying on the CORF boards you are looking to audition so you need to figure in what is comfy to do what you do in them..

hope that helps

If you want to wear something to enjoy yourself in and be comfy, then you can choose whatever you like.  If you plan to be on cast, before investing your hard-earned money, you might want to check with the Costume Director of the faire to see what is and isn't acceptable for cast to wear.  Many of the larger faires have strict garbing guidelines, some of the smaller faires show more leniency as to what their cast/workers wear.

Well on the pants, I guess the first question is do you want to be H/A or just have fun?  If you want to be H/A, what period and class are you talking about?  The period and class make a huge difference on what to where.
Why can't reality be more like faire?

I wanted to be as H/A as possible while still having fun creating a character. I was going for a peasant/musician type character around the 1500s-1600s from England. I'm having a hard time with ideas with what to do as my character won't be a fancy musician and what not. I am going to stick to more earthy tones as that seems more appropriate because I wanted him to be more of a woodsy folk. Do you guys think I'm on the right track? I'm still kinda new to garbing.

I would go with the baggy pants for purely practical reasons. You'll be able to layer them over thermals or sweats on cold days, and they allow some air flow on warm days. I also feel that baggy pants represent a lower class, as they allow more freedom of movement than tightly fitted pants.

I agree.  Also, consider it might realistically be easier for someone of the peasant class to make baggy pants than to make tight pants which require more exact tailoring.

Some of the cast at PRF wear baggy pants, but not all are the same.

I've decided to go with "baggy" pants, but if I do audition I'm going to ask before I buy anything. I found this website http://www.mistythicket.com/ and they have a style I like. Thanks everyone for your help. ;D
