When I makes me Pirate coats (I has two o' them) I puts on the Audio Book of 'Treasure Island' by Robert Louis Stevenson.  By time I gets to the aft end o' the book, I has most o' the coat done!

I love to sew by the BBC Elizabeth R series because it just goes on and on without needing much fiddling from me.  I also watch Anne of the Thousand Days quite a bit.  The BBC Henry VIII series would be another good long-y but it kind of annoys me mostly due to the actresses that play Anne B and Katherine H.  Love their depiction of Katherine of A though.

Oh also, this is kind of funny.  One long sewing day after having watching all my favorite ren movies, I found myself popping in Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Peter Pan, and Mary Poppins in succession.  I laughed later when I figured out I just hadn't had enough of the British accent!

Platt

Depends on the time limit.

The night before - Phantom of the Opera, Rent... pretty much any Broadway musical made into movies

Any other time, wifey watches movies while Platt sews.  (Clint Eastwood, anime, Clint Eastwood, Underworld, Clint Eastwood, Japanese live action movies, Clint Eastwood)

When wifey isn't around, Platt usually listens to music:  Kingston Trio, GnR, Wicked, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Corsairs, Whirley Jig, NIN, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Sarah Brightman, Tarja, Weird Al, Garth Brooks, Metallica, Sailor Moon soundtrack, Leaves Eyes, Meatloaf, Restless Heart, Eagles, Depeche Mode....

O.o    uhhhh....    sorry... tmi...  *Runs away and hides*
Bouncy Bouncy *Thump*  OW!  Platt's Nose!

Sorry, having a midnight margarita moment...

You know, I thought my family was one of the only ones with a serious love of Practical Magic!!  LOVE LOVE LOVE the "midnight margarita moment"... you know I heard they were actually all drunk together for the shooting of that scene!

Movies I like to watch are the period ones with pretty costumes that I've seen a million times so that I don't have to actually watch a good portion of it.

Tudors 1 and 2
HBO ELizabeth I series
Elizabeth and ELizabeth The Golden Age
Six wives of Henry 8th
Anne of a thousand days

Or other pretty costume movies like:
LOTR
Narnia movies
Willow

I'm also into the longer the better so I don't have to be distracted by getting up to change it out and such...
Queen Elizabeth the 1st
Champagne the Bubbly
Bubbles the Fairy
Frost the Arctic Barbarian
Red the pirate

Lady Rosalind

LOL, I've finally gotten well enough to sew again, and I was thinking about this topic just last night!!! (I had either bronchitis or whooping cough, and have been sick for five weeks - last night I finally was caught up enough on other chores to start sewing again! Seven weeks to finish two men's court doublets, and my sleeves...)

Favorites to sew/cut out/draft by:

Pirates of the Caribbean I (especially when working on Pirate garb!)
Bride and Prejudice
Knight's Tale
Vacation
Christmas Vacation
Spaceballs
Ever After (especially when I am trying to work on my accent)
Three O'Clock High
Live Free or Die Hard (ahhh... Bruce....)
X-Men (ahhh... Hugh...)
Battlestar Galactica Miniseries
The Goonies

Basically, anything I've seen enough times that I am not distracted (much). I'm going to have to add some of the movies I've seen here to my collection!  ;D

Great topic!!!

Not a movie, but a comment, hope you don't mind...
I usually find sewing time to be relaxing and just let my mind wander. I think about other projects, past incidents, things I want to improve and how to go about it, creative problem solving, I guess. I like some background music, but nothing with lyrics, which interrupts my thinking process.

I know it doesn't sound very exciting, but I like to sew in silence.  Maybe my wife will have something on, but I prefer to be focued on my work, and I don't notice anything in the backgroung anyway.

I absolutely LOVE Practical Magic!!!!   Yes, the midnight margarita scene is the best!   Makes me want to have one of those moments myself!  You say they were actually drunk for that scene?  Too funny! I always thought it was acted out very well.  I love the part where Sandra Bullock/Sally blurts out "WITCH!" while they're sitting at the table drinking. :D

Oh wow.... this is gonna sound weird....

I watch the Nightmare Before Christmas, or Queen of the Damned.

Only because you said it (I love that movie)!  I have a friend that had a sweet sixteen NBC party.  I made the cake, check it out!

Is it just me, or does the picture not show anymore? I LOVE NMBC and would love to see the cake.
And I agree with the others about Practical Magic. Love the movie. Watched it yesterday, actually!
Pretty much every movie that everyone has listed has been watched at some point while I've sewed. I'm not really picky about what movie I watch, but it is usually period or one I've watched a hundred times already that I could recite the words.

Oh wow, that IS an awesome cake! So I don't hijack the thread, I'm going to send you a private message.
Regarding the movies, I don't know if it was mentioned yet, but I spent today sewing while watching Robin Hood: Men In Tights. Had a great day!
