OK...SOOOO...here we go again. I have gotten lots of feedback over the years reguarding campgrounds. I know what I like when I'm camping, I know that different people expect different things, and I know some things just can't be helped (like weather and other peoples kids). SOOO...that said...

WHERE DO YA WANNA CAMP?? I'll list your choices below. If you feel so moved make a post about where you'd like to stay or what your thoughts are, please do.You can camp as a group or on your own at the same or separate campgrounds. If you have any questions, please ask. I hope this proves to be helpful and more people are satisfied this year.

Hotels/motels are always booked this weekend due to a local event. If your willing to pay perhaps you can find one with a bit of a drive.

For group camping this is what I've got:

Ogston's RV park - this is the one I've been trying to get the last couple of years. it's really close to the faire site. tenting is in a field around a lil private pond, very pretty. You can sample this one this yr and see what ya think $18/tent/night

Spirit Mountain - this doesnt have to be walk-in (sites a-J) like last time. there is group/field tenting or you can pay for individual spots.
Water and Electric Sites:
$32.00 per night [1-12, 15, 18-44]
Electric Only Sites:
$30.00 per night [ 13, 14, 16, 17, 45-73]
Walk-In Tenting:
$20.00 per night [Field, Upper and Lower Primitive Walk-ins, and Sites A-J]

Saginaw Campground
- that's where it was last yr. Closer to faire, field camping on highway and train tracks?? not ideal. around $20/tent/night

KOA Cloquet
will most likely be closed as they are rebuilding after a fire.

I believe this is where people plan to camp:

Ogston's:

Saginaw: Tarac, dustmanmn

Spirit Mt:

I'm curious about this new place.  Being strictly an RV Park, are there any sheltered areas for tents or is it all in the open?  Any more info/pictures you can round up would be fantastic.

That being said;

I like Spirit Mountain and would camp there again any time.  I preferred the walk in sites for their privacy, but I know a few people didn't care for that.  There are always the roadside sites they have too.

Saginaw, the place we stayed last year?  No thanks...once was enough in this lifetime. *blargh*

We'll be tenting, so any place with a little bit of shade is fine with us.  Ogston's sounds interesting.

I plan on staying at Saginaw with my wife and kids. Anyone is welcome to stay with us, we also will have a group of about 8 others with us.
If it weren't for the gutter my mind would be homeless.

Tarac

I vote Saginaw it wasn't too bad and this time we will have a camper trailer hopefully. ;D
Scotch the only way to go

Does the Ogston's campsite have showers like the others?

My thoughts reading the blurb about Ogstons: Pond + Summer in MN = Massive mosquito population.

Ouch...you might have a point there.  Of course, there are massive amounts of dragonflies up there that time of year, so that may balance it out too.

We just set up our group camp at Saginaw, anyone is welcome to join our camp and enjoy merriment and mayhem.

yes

are there really that many mosquitos in spring?? I'm useda camping along the MN river in Shakopee in summer/fall. Now that brings out all the biting critters

Perhaps if we do Saginaw, we can request our group site on the other side of the grounds... i.e.  Away from the highway!  ::)
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

I'll look into this as there looked to be a better spot up the hill.

Yeah that does seem a dumb place to put tenters altho I don't think they have alot of tenters in that area.

Also, in talking with people it seems the folks stayin at Saginaw will be more kid oriented so if you are one who prefers a quieter stay Ogston's or Spirit Mt. might be better.

I should mention my 12 yr old and 7 yr old daughters will be with us this year. They are used to mayhem and bawdy humor from parties at my house.
