we are starting a new faire in central texas, sherwood forest faire.  www.swf-faire.com or www.sherwoodforestfaire.com

our faire will be established in the year 1189 (but our inhabitants of the realm will be a bit anachronistic...medieval to renaissance {as i hear shakespeare himself will be walking the woods} to fantasy)

we are looking for costumes for peasants, merchants and village folk and nobility--new or old.

our budgets are limited...and we are looking for help.  willing to pay, if price is reasonable.  willing to barter vendor fees for costumes.  willing to accept the good and gracious donations from good and kind souls.

we just need help, advice, offers, etc.

any.  we had grand plans that went a rye.  we purchased several hundred dollars of patterns from folk on this forum and took them to bali where we were having other items carved, designed, etc for the faire which opens in february of 2010.  we met for hours with a seemtress and she took our patterns, our downpayment and said, "NO PROBLEM."  then, we received an email from her indictaing it was taking longer than she expected...then notta.  we feel confident she decided it wasnt worth the effort...and we will likely see nothing of our patterns, our downpayment or our cloth.  thus, we are seeking other options for our acting company, as well as other good souls who will be working the faire. 

a hat, a bottice, a dress, a pair of peasant's trousers...doesn't really matter.  all help is appreciative.  doesn't even need to be new.

again, we will make it known on our website, as well as at the faire anyone who aided us in our development of the faire.

That's so sad.  Instances like this affect merchants in general adversely, I believe...even if we are the type to take great care to provide the best products and services possible.  It really puts a bee in my bonnet!!!
