Laney, I have to say, as funny as the idea soudns, I would pray you wouldn't do that because I remember the hills at Colorado when I went a few years ago and that could turn out to be very dangerous to a lovely lady in heels.

Thank you, that is so sweet of you to say that :)

So NO WAY would I do that as it would be suicide. I do remember a woman last year with 3" heels and I just could not believe she wore those shoes that day... even with out garb and in mundanes.

While those boots are fine for a normal floor... they are in no way ever worn off a normal floor or paving.

Some people are just psychotic, but they manage to pull it off and not kill themselves like I would. I coudl never wear the boots that Cassidy aka Element of Air (love you doll! ^_^) wears at TRF when she dances chainmaille, and then she walks around all day in them, they've got a heel to them, a slightly sturdy one, but still.

No heels for me...well, I take that back...the boots that Brooke gave me have a heel but its like those ultra-oober, stable, thick heels, you know?
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

No character for me yet.  Need a costume idea first.  And before I get that, I need an occasion to make a costume (no point in making one if there's nowhere to wear it to!).

Wish I could make it to the con.  That sounds like fun.  I'll make it to a con one of these years...:)

About the heels in places that don't seem appropriate...some ladies have worn them so much that the muscles and tendons in the back of the calf have shortened, and it is actually more painful for them to wear flats.  Still not sure how they don't turn an ankle in some of the places I've seen heels being worn, but I guess if that's what they're comfortable in...*shrug*

I'll join you on that one.  I'm not sure I will be able to make the TRF Steam punk gathering.  I think it falls when the Bike Rally will be.  But one day I will have me some Steam Punk clothing and a place to wear it.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Steampunk bellydance...what delicious possiblities! Now you've got me thinking, maybe I actually could play with this genre, after all. I only heard about steampunk about a year ago, but I was immediately struck by the its rich creativity. History, fantasy, adventure and romance, all in one- what's not to love? :D

BTW, this link keeps popping up in on my FB page- looks like it could offer great costume elements, especially for ladies.

VENI, VIDI, VELCRO! Spelling and grammatical errors are beyond my control, it's the way I'm wired.

I am currently drooling over this. So cute!!! Good prices too on the shoes and accessories I think. :)

*facepalm*   I suppose it might be helpful if I actually included the link I mentioned. Duh.  ::)

I'm all for this!  I met a couple at Scarby who were dressed in Steampunk outfits and have been fascinated ever since.  I think this would be a nice diversion from traditional faire wear for at least one weekend at TRF! Count me in!

Good source for women's Victorian:  http://recollections.biz/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=W1033&Category_Code=TwillJackets

My vintage boots came in & fit - YAY! and them promptly tore when I laced them up - SOB!  So off the the shoe doctor they go.   I'm hoping they can get a piece of reinforcement put behind the original lacing panels and some different grommets - we'll see.  The good news is the torn panel is under the big strap.
