It does have an orange cast to it, but it must be my monitor, because it even looked pinkish in the larger pics to me.  It's still beautiful, though!

I'll be heading to Dallas next month for FenCon and decided I needed a new jacket.  I've got a couple of Nancy Reagan era red jackets and I started mods on one today.  The front was trimmed to crop length, vest style (v's) and the back has beetle wing tails.  I'll start the sewing over the coming weekend.  I'll make black grosgrain arrows for the front, trim them w/gold & black velvet ribbon and each of the points will get a reproduction Victorian gold button (think of a Michael Jackson military/band jacket).  If I get real ambitious I'll open up the sleeves and trim them up with a couple of rows of yet more black ribbon.  Finally, I ordered some braided epaulettes from eBay to top them off. But I think the shoulders may want some cording? or pearls a la George Michael?

This will be worn with  an undervest, my black walking skirt, a huge vintage marching band hat and I'll carry my big poleaxe.  I am really looking forward to my roadtrip!

And update from By the Sword on my order for the clockwork bra and corset.  They tell me each piece is hand made to order but not by them.  They have no idea when they will receive the finished items and ship them to me.  They billed my credit card on 8/11/10.

That's one pee-poor way to do business.  Although I'll never be able to fit into one of those gems, it's good to have the word out.

As far as my jacket is concerned, I ordered a boat load of black silk ribbon.  I'll still do the arrow trim, but now I'll leave a tail of about 4" on each one in the center a la the Dr. Watson dinner jacket in the RD, Jr. Sherlock movie.  Only silk ribbon will do!

Ummm... I have the feeling that pics are in order...  (I'm lookin' at you, Bonny!) 

There's a DiTD tailed bodice with sleeves for sale here in the forums that looks like it would fit me perfectly, and if I could afford it, it would be mine today...  She's asking $250 for it, though, and that's just altogether out of my price range for anything at all, at this point.    Can't wait to see Bonny's new coat, though!!!
