I am registered and have my Hotel room request in for the 2011 CONVergence convention 30 June-3 July. The theme will be STEAMPUNK. Rest assured, I will be making some more Victorian ensembles for myself, as well as for my sister and Niece in California who plan to attend.

Those who have not yet considered this, might want to. http://www.convergence-con.org/
Online registration and Hotel room requests are now open.

Thanks for the heads-up that room requests are open for CONvergence. Looks correct the rumor we heard that they are giving preference to people who volunteered last year.

Just a heads-up:
Remember with Halloween coming up it might be the perfect time to find some inexpensive bits to fill out your steampunk outfits -especially during the post-Halloween discounts http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/Fn-Mad-Hatter/

Just struck me whether I might be able to get some extra use out of my 17th century buff coat for a steamy persona. I don't want to modify it but I wonder if it might double as protective coat for some sort of scientist or engineer. Problem is that it's heavy elk hide so it can get pretty warm.

Nice shot, you must have had an excellent photographer...  ;)   8)

I didn't realize it was elk hide when I met, and visited with you that day.

Are there any attachment points on the coat to hook or hang Steamy accessories?

That's a beautiful coat, groomporter.  Maybe leave it open w/a lab apron & gloves for a scientist?

;D

No, it would need a belt or something on the outside.

Just replace the sash with some sort of leather affair, with lots of gadgets hanging off of it, and I think it would look VERY much like a mad scientist's lab coat. :)
