So...I've decided to take on a project. I want to create a really epic Snow White costume. I want to make something super intricate, but not screen accurate. Definitey more of a what the dress might have really looked like or something to that effect. I want to give it a sort of Steampunk vibe. I'm planning to use the Simplicity 8881 pattern. I've decided I want a cage crinoline underneath. I'd like to pull up part of the dress and have the metalwork of it visible. Does anyone know where I can find a cage crinoline thats not covered in fabric?

Pretty. Odd.

Actually, if you know anyone who works in a warehouse, the metal stripping around large cargo on skids is great for making a crinoline cage...just make a fabric or leather waistband or use a belt to build it on. If you know someone who can weld, that would work, or get the heavy duty wire & wrap build.

Hinges are also an idea to put it on & off.

Sounds good only I don't know anyone who works in a warehouse. I'm sure I could solder things myself, but I dont know the dimensions of the hoops or anyof that.

What does the color blue taste like?

Remember in Shrek 3 when the princesses take over?  Snow White rips her dress sleeves off and she does that rocker screaming/singing thing with the attack woodland creatures. She even has a tatoo.  Cool.
That's the first thing that came to mind when you said steampunk Snow White!

This website has a few steakmpunk bellydance videos. There is one I see that is using all-white costumes, lots of very flowy skirts. The first video and the very last, Read My Hips. There are some great ideas if you explore the whole site for Victorian and Steampunk.

Also, you might be able to go to Lowes or Home depot for the steel, just ask, they just throw it away.

Good luck!!!

I will most definitely post pictures and you'll prolly be able to see it in person at Scarborough next year. I have decided I need the crinoline for another event in early september, Animefest to be specific haha. I'll post pics os the crinoline itsself and of the costume no doubt, even tho its not really renaissance related lol

I've pretty much decided on buying the supplies from farthengales and piecing my own together. The costume for animefest is very specific in its construction, number of hoops and whatnot

I'm interested to see how this turns out. I guess there was a lady in a really cool Steampunk outfit at the Mayfaire festival a couple weeks back but I missed her. Our kids love Steampunk...
