Good Gentles, On Memorial Weekend Sunday, May 25, 2008, a service from (Henry VIII's era) the 1549 AD Episcopal prayerbook will be conducted at Scarborough Faire at 11 AM. This service is bona fide, sanctioned by the Diocese of Dallas and conducted by Father Bill Warnky, the priest of The Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan, Dallas. He will be in full regalia, as will some of the parishioners from that congregation. After the service, the Honorable Lady Lete Bithespring will be custom-lettering names on complementary keepsake bookmarks for attendees who wish one.

Oh wow! That's sound so cool!!! Thanks for telling us about that DonaCatalina!  I definately want to attend that!  ;D

It doesn't matter what church you attend IRL does it?  I wouldn't think so, but just thought I would ask...dunno, maybe they won't allow ex-Lutheran Methodists to attend...  ;)

Oh, and where will it be held???

Awesome!  We will definitely be there.  I was a bit sad that, because Easter was before start of Faire this year, there was no church service scheduled this year.

Yes, definitely want to know where (though if we fall in for morning Guard duty, I'll guess we'll end up there).

I believe it's usually held at Crown, but I'm not sure if that's where it's scheduled this year.

And I don't know if you'll be there if you're on morning Guard duty as this event is not usually something that the performing company is involved with.  I'm not sure if the Royals make a stop there or not, but it's actually organized and completed by the sponsoring Church.

I hope it is at the Crown Stage, so I can sneak in a little late.  I'm going to be drumming Sunday @ the little BDT stage, so I can't get there until after our 11 o'clock "show", which should be over by 11:10.

I am being told that it will be held at the wedding chapel/garden just across the path from the area inside the main gate.

I was wondering if that was where it would be since that is where they have the renewal of vows ceremony. I like that area, I'm glad that's where it will be.  I am definately planning to attend!  :)

Easter Sunday last year or was it the year before, (I getting old.) the service was held
in the area where the weddings are held.

Thank you. I think it's really cool that Scarborough hosts this kind of thing. Just one more bit of history to experience.

I think it's really cool too!  Because it is going to be from the period is the reason I want to attend! Otherwise, if it were just modern stuff I probably wouldn't bother... :-[  I'm curious what it will be like so I'm really looking forward to it.

We got through about 1/2 of it before the kids begged off.  I wanted to stay but I knew I could not inflict my kids on the other people there any longer.
However, what we did see was very interesting.  They've obviously done their research & try to make it as accurate as possible from what little I know.
