Is there an upper limit to replies on a single thread?

and 'Continue the thread' have been sorta lobotomised.

this was done intentionally, as to help with the search function.  Threads that have little value other than entertainment such as the ones mentioned are being trimmed down to help the site.  When threads become so large, simple searches will pull up these threads and overtake them, making it difficult if not impossible to use the search function.
