RumbaRue - sorry to hear the jewelry was a downer.  I bought the crystal black widow spider necklace and wear it for Halloween.  I'm pretty pleased with it.....  But now I'm going to go have a look at it and make sure the crystals are intact!  :o

I'll join the "drooling but not ordered yet" crowd...would like to lose more weight first, tho.
Why order, and then have it be too big later?

I've bought a few things from that catalog. Depending on their sizes they mention in their catalogs, clothes: - a large will fit a size 16 gal, so go up to either x-Large or 1X.
I have a couple of dresses from them and they fit fine, but I had to go up to a 1x for the fit, where normally I might wear just a large or x-large.

Sadly their jewelry isn't up to par. I bought a ring with amethyist  and Peridot and two stones fell out two days after I got it. So I returned the ring and exchanged it for another, and again the center stone fell out and disappeared in the carpet. So I didn't bother getting another one. Also, the stone colors are not good (tend to be very light) and their gems are not of the best quality, which is sad considering the high prices they charge for the jewelery.

Wow, I'm shocked!  I bought a ring from them as a Valentine's Day present from me to me.  I wear it everyday and there has never been a problem.

renren, I completely understand what you're saying.  But let me add my two pence here.  About 20 years ago when I lived in Colorado and was quite a bit smaller, but still fat, I refused to buy a decent winter coat, always telling myself that I wanted to lose weight first.  Then my husband and I divorced, I moved to Texas, lost my father, fell into a deep depression & ate myself into my current size (well, I've since dropped about 50#).  At some point in time I decided that I was valuable enough to deserve nice clothing, including - gasp! - winter coats (even though it rarely falls below 40 degrees).

I was lucky enough that at that time the major plus-size catalogs and some other catalog companies like Spiegel & Newport News carried some really gorgeous coats.  Every year I bought a new coat (or two).    Now when I need a coat, I open my closet and have a choice of long leather coats, short leather jackets, my favorite cut velvet coats from Newport News (that are both pirate-y AND cheap) in a choice of colors (and one of these days I SWEAR I will fit into the leather one!), and once every blue moon it's cold enough to haul out the ankle length black suede w/long lamb trim and embroidery.

I am no longer able to find beautiful coats from the catalog companies and haven't bought a new coat in five or six years.  If I hadn't bought them when they were available I would be in a generic fat-lady car coat and not at all happy about it.  If you lose the weight, well and good; sell the coat on eBay, give the coat to a friend, donate it to charity.  If not, enjoy it for all it - and you -are worth.

Now, back to original question:  BUY IT, BUY IT NOW!!!!  It's got plenty of pirate potential and would make a gorgeous highwayman's coat, w/a scarf rakishly disguising the lower part of the face & a hat pulled jauntily forward to shade & hide the eyes.  Ooh, and knee length black boots.

Sveethot!

Taffy, I'm with you.  WHATEVER size you are, and whether or not you are struggling to lose or gain weight, you need to feel well dressed NOW!  It does wonders for the self-esteem, and THAT does great things to help with the weight changing.

If you are worried about not fitting into something if you lose a bit, renren, just get something adjustable or elastic waisted that will shrink with you.  And when it is finished with you, pass it on or chop it up into something new...

Darling, If you want the item GET IT!!!!  If you are not good to yourself who else will be?  Don't worry if you loose weight, that is what tailors and seamstresses are for.  You can always get items taken in or have a gusset put on the back for adjustability.  For the longest time I have denied myself a bodice because I want to lose more wiehgt.  Finally a friend sat me down and said if you want it now get it because tomorrow you might not be able to afford it.  So I am currently having one custom made for me.  So go be your piratey best!

I agree with the other ladies: buy it now! I'm one of those women who is always telling myself that I'm too fat for this and not pretty enough for that, and that just shreds up your self-esteem. DH is always having to give me pep talks and tell me that, dangnubbit, I fine just the way I am. So give yourself a pep talk and get whatever you want that will make you feel beautiful, inside and out!

I just received one of their catalogs about a week or two ago.  I am glad someone started this thread about them.  A lot of questions answered already  ;D
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

I've only seen women respond to this thread, so I thought I'd chime in and give you my opinion. I love the look of the coat you are considering. It is about as piratey as a coat can get and very awesome. Judging from the majority of the responses, I, personally, would take a chance and purchase it.

Now that I've been made aware of this site (Thank you!), I will be looking it over closely for ideas for my wife's next outfit.

Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

I agree about sizes running a bit small.  Have bought other stuff from them as well and am generally pleased.  Be sure and read the whole garment description for the fabric content -- seems like I've seen a lot of 100% polyester from them.

Another pyramid fan here.  I mostly drool, but have purchased a few things from them.  Mostly, I've found things true to size, though I bought a pair of shoes from them that seemed to run big.

My mother and I have been ordering clothing, shoes, and jewelry from Pyramid Collection for about seven or eight years now. The clothing I've bought has worn like iron. The Celtic sundress and velvet and brocade dresses I have from them look the same as they did when they came out of the box, despite my machine washing them on delicate when it clearly says dry clean only on the tags. My leather boots have even held up for 4 faire seasons and can still be worn, after some polishing. I have some of their jewelry that I still wear daily. The only thing I've ever had break from them was a pewter celtic knot slave bracelet, but pewter is delicate, and it was probably my fault for adjusting the bracelet to much.

As far as customer service goes, they are friendly on the phone. But sometimes it's frustrating because they seem to have a limited supply of their items and they have to be back ordered if you still want them. I was surprised to find a new item had already been sold out the very day I received the catalog in the mail. My suggestion would be that if you find something you want for the upcoming festival- order it a month or so early, just in case they are out of stock! Out of all the stuff I have from them, I think about 6 items were back ordered and I had to wait long for them. Also, if you are considering purchasing jewelry from them, do a search on the internet first. A huge snake ring I am drooling over currently costs $70.00 on their site, but I've found the same ring on other websites for 40-45 bucks. So shop around. Alot of their jewelry is by Alchemy Gothic, which many online dealers sell.

I like a ton of their stuff, especially the steampunk stuff, but they're way to expensive for my income (at this point >.>).

But it's sort of weird because they're really high on a lot of things, but then there are items you'd think would be higher-priced that are really cheap.  Example being, that multi-smell incense "fan" that's $14.
