Tell me how the campground was for All Hallows.  I need confirmation of my decision not to attend with StudMuffin.  All weekend I was second guessing myself, thinking that maybe it wasn't as bad as they predicted.  Please let me know if there were many standing puddles and if you think StudMuffin would have sank into the mud.

We really need another dry weekend so I can roll and visit.

Ok, now that I've caught my breath.

Great weekend, even with the wee bit o' Scottish mist we had.  Some land grabbing problems but it made the clans tighten up our borders.  Myranda and her crew made it in from Nebraska and were made welcome.  Briar patch Charlie made it in and looked he had a blast.  The Friday night striptease in the next camp added a spot of eye entertainment for the males. Watched a lot of fools camp in the flood plain back in 1C and were taking odds on how many would float...

All in all, a great weekend...good food, good drink, spent with people I care about.

You probably would've been fine, in camp, Keeper...due the "land grabbing" problems I mentioned, PR & BS had to come to come to the other side of the tracks. ;). We could see all the trouble spots from the rain last weekend and took steps.  McShug, BS, & PR were snuggled up against each other and made for a short walk between camps.

Inside wasn't TOO bad... There might've been a few spots where StudMuffin might had a few problems but best to err on the side of caution.

For any who knew about my "hard tent" problems, she managed to get me home.  The sizzling sounds, from under the dash board, made my butt pucker the whole way back.   :o

Thank God my son used to be a Ford mechanic...some contact cleaner...some electrical grease... a bunch of silicon and TA DA!  Fixed.  ;) :)

The aftermath of this weekend is bittersweet, and has some good-news/bad-news from our end of things.

The bad news- after the things I saw and heard inside faire this weekend, the skyrocketing prices for, well, everything, and learning some things that are going on behind the scenes that gave my inner moral outrage an eye twitch (and not rumours, got it directly from the source), this is my last year at TRF for the foreseeable future. It's lost its way, and there are other faires that still have the soul of what made TRF great for so long. So, alas, after over a quarter century t'would appear tis time to part ways.

The good news- This means I'll have more money (MUCH more, dear Gods and Ancestors, $9 for a turkey leg?!?) for Sherwood, and can even check out Avalon. I will be taking a large group of people with me as we jump ship from TRF, which means we might be able to put together enough to get ten paid people out every weekend (or ten FoF passes) to get a clan camping slot in the cue if I can pull it off. *crosses fingers*

I may be joining in that march.  AHE maybe the only time they get money out of me...and even then it's because of my clan and not the faire.

Sherry and I are headed down on Friday with two friends who are newbies to TRF. Hoping the rain holds off! How has it been down there with the rain? Staying in Tomball at Comfort Inn. Anyone else staying there? Hope to see some of you at faire....

My husband and I plus 2 friends of ours are going this weekend for our anniversary. We will be camping so I'm hoping for minimal rain but either way we will be there.

It's too bad that the folks running TRF these days have choosen to go down the path they are going.  They have run many off completely (not renewed their contracts/ie....fired them), and others are questioning if they will ever come back.  I did see some stuff in the new shops around the Chapels that were nice, but I sure hate seeing those open areas gone.  One thing that I was really disappointed in was the t-shirts for this season.  Every year at exit time I've gone by the shop by the exit to pick up a t-shirt.  I don't know who made the design choices this year, but they all pretty much s@#$ed.  Hands down the worst selection of t-shirts ever, and I've been attending since the late 80's.   >:(
Had a good time as always attending AHE (a day in Faire & camping with the clan), but things are a changing and not all those changes are for the better.  Kinda sad...........
Spiced rum....hmmmmm
Greetings, try this.

It's funny, RenStarr... I normally get a feeling of "coming home" when i walk through the gates.  This year, it was like opening the door on your family home and finding all the relatives you can't stand, sitting in the living room.

The smells were there...the sights were there...the sounds were there but it seemed like The Spirit was muted and suppressed.

Looks like another weekend with "liguid sunshine".  StudMuffin hates that.  He easily gets stuck in the mud, not to mention possibly shorting out.
Hopefully next weekend will be drier.  I need my faire fix booster.

The PP , Fuzzlet and I were down there is past weekend and had a blast.  To be honest it was the best trip we have ever had.  It was messy and a but muddy on Saturday.  The rain wasn't hard, just messy, and a little cool.  Made for nice camping weather.  Friday set up nearly killed us.  We were planning for  the rain they told us about, and got 90% humidity and 80 degree temps.  Thankfully we had gotten extra water this year, and it was guzzled down.
Sunday was wonderful for us.  The PP was out in full Father Christmas gear until about noon when it simply got too hot for the coat.  Once it cooled off he put it back on.  I got to showcase my lastest gown and it was a blast.  Honestly it felt like the days were too short.  I can't believe the weekend is over.

The PP and I will be back for Celtic Christmas on Black Friday though in full regalia. :)
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.
