Been following this story for several weeks ..
gate count as reported to vendors for their payouts has been 'inaccurate' for a few years.
Some members of management and investors were in process of buying the faire.
Apparently looking into the books revealed information that led to the owner killing the deal, and the majority of management, front office and campground staff being fired.

Thank you for the intel, Zardoz.    I suspected as much.  George might be old and off his rocker but he's not a stupid man.

*Makes you wonder about all of those "sudden" increases in fees for vendors.  Like the extra $100 electric fee, demanded about half way through the season...  Beer & food prices steadily climbing every year.... being hung up at the heels and shaken until every last penny falls out of your pockets... *

My understanding on the electric charge was that the county came out and saw what their wiring looked like in a few places, they had to fix a lot of stuff quick. Of course why pay for your own stuff if you can hit the vendors?

I've simply not gotten into the Cosplay and Roman and the Whatever and the Steampunk weekends at faires.  I appreciate all those things, but there is a place for those. If I showed up at a Steampunk convention dressed as a wizard, they would likely beat me to death.

I was just looking at the TRF campground map...they have the "Drainage Ditch of Doom" clearly marked on it.

That's a much better map! We didn't get to camp last year so I didn't get to see an updated one. I've always heard rumors of the drainage ditch but haven't camped on that side.  We plan to this year. I wondered where it was...
