What is the best  compliment you have ever been paid?  Feel free to post more than one.  Don't be modest!  Well, maybe a little modest.  Let's see if we can hang out in Mundane Topics for at least a little while before being sent straight to John's Inn.  ;)

Back in the 1980's, someone donated anonymously a Million Dollar winning McDonald's ticket to St. Judes Hospital. One of my co-workers asked if I was the person who made the donation.  After I recovered my wits, I told her I was extremely complimented but had to admit I'm not that generous! An interesting side bar on that event is that the people who made the Monopoly tickets for McDonalds kept the winning ticket for themselves but then chickened out on cashing it in and sent it to St. Judes instead. They did the same thing the next year and got caught.

One day at Faire, I was particularly 'fluffed' and one non-garbed lad turned to his friend and said, "Huge tracts of land!" My grin almost split my face!

A couple years ago, while working at TRF, I chose to combat the fickle weather by wearing a one-piece long flax-ish dress with lots of embroidery that looks like something Guinevere wore in Camelot (it is actually a traditional dress from Egypt, which I didn't know at first, but a nice man gave me a lesson on it that same season). I, a curvy girl to begin with AND about five months preggers, was already showing quite a bit. So the dress was stretched a little across my growing belly. I felt awkward and overheated and for the most part miserable as I was walking back from my umpteenth trip to the privies..

And THEN, I overheard a little girl in the shop next door (the keeper's granddaughter, if i recall correctly) exclaim loudly "OH! She's so bee-ooo-ti-ful! Is she a princess?".. That just made my whole weekend. :)

My first day of faire in garb, a member of the Court took my hand, brought me before King Henry at BARF and said he wanted to charge me with purloining.

I almost protested, "I wasn't soliciting anyone!"

But the king said, "And what did she purloin?"
He kissed my hand, looked into my eyes, and said, "She has stolen the face of Venus."

I really am sorry I burst out laughing....

A female orthopaedic surgeon was the blind-folded judge for a bonniest knees contest at the Highland games in Kilgore one year.  I won and was told by her that I had nicely developed knees.  I thought, "what better qualified judge could I get?!"

OK, to get the full effect of this compliment you have to know that I had a lap-band put in last year & I've lost about 60lbs.

The other day I was fixing dinner & I had taken off my overshirt & just had on my capris & a spaghetti strap, form-fitting tank top.  My DS11 looked & me & said 'Mommy, you've really slimmed down'.

It was very sweet & just what I needed to hear as I've been feeling a bit fat lately.  I'm not eating my best right now & my clothes are telling me that loud & clear.

Well I have to say that the best compliment I got in a long time happened at our local faire this past february.

My boyfriend was a faire virgin at the time, I spent about 4 months working on his garb as he refused to go in mundanes if I was in garb.
The first day we showed up at faire a family with two small children stopped us and asked if they could have their picture taken with us.

My boyfriend couldn't stop smiling for hours.
We still talk about the fact that we are in some random strangers family album.
