RenFest: The Next Generation

Hi there! This be Mouse here and I have a requests from anyone that eats, dreams, and breathes TRF..or ren fairs in general for that matter. I need help. It has occurred to me that somewhere along this path, I lost my way...in the beginning I was about the people, the sights, the sounds, the backstory..then, materialism blinded me..I was still about the people, but now I saw them as vendors instead of the enriching lot with backstories, smiles, wisdom, and full of frivolity. This year I aim to correct that. I get to introduce TRF to the next generation of mouse, my 2yr old Lady-In-Training, Addyson. I want her to start this trek on the right foot, with the same awe and resources I had when I started mine. So here is my request..I wish to build a network of people. People I know, people to discuss TRF with, because If you are anything like me, as soon as the last firework extinguishes and you are out those doors, that last solemn moment doesn't last long enough as its 365 more days til the next cannon boom...I wish to give this gift to her, people that she can grow up with in faire, outside of faire. So, if you would be so kind, let me know who I should visit in faire, not just vendors, but people, story tellers, daredevils,truthweavers and lie laddlers all...RENNIES! I won't have much to leave my daugther, but through TRF I have learned enrichment, as I wish her to learn...I would much like it for my daugther to continue the defence of the renainssance festival, learn what it means to own who you are, and be thankful at the end of the day that so many wonderful people make such a bleak world shine, momentarily, year after year. Sorry for such a solemn post...See you around the grounds.

My daughter just turned 3 this year.  This will be her third year at TRF.  I'm not quite certain what will pique her interest this year, but last year it was all about the fairies and ponies.  Not much else really interested her at 2 years old.  Oh, and the music.  She loved listening to the music.  I suspect this year will be very similar to last year.

Of course with every year comes more inquisitiveness.  So I expect her to find new things around faire that will grab her attention.  I don't expect her to be too interested in the people and tales until she is quite a bit older.  And if she shows any interest in the history at all, that will definitely be way down the road.

Indeed it was. Thank you oh so much. What I meant by the tales and stories was also people I can talk to as well. In a sense benefits me and hopefully the father makes way for the daughter..inherit the culture and all that. I haven't made the best use of my time when it comes getting to know the people of TRF than it was about getting to know the sticker prices. I miss the stories as well...My friends are her friends kind of thing..it's how I was raised and it how I wish to raise her..so thank you so much for the insight and once again, if there are people I should/need to meet, people that you yourself think highly of, let me know.

this will be my son's first year out  he will be about 2 months old when i bring him out.

This will be Dravens 2nd time at faire. I think it will be more memorable for him this year. Cant wait....
