Lady Kathleen of Olmsted

Lady Meg,

If you have some scraps left of the fabric for the bodice, a Modesty panel would work where the lacing is so that your back does not show. The bodoce is lovely. The colors work well together.

I love the color combo on the bodice.  Great job.  And I agree with Lady K, if you have enough extra scraps put in a small panel behind the lacing.  But it still looks wonderful.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Lady Rebecca

I love the colors on the bodice! What sort of fabric is that?

LadyMeg

Thanks guys!

I was thinking about finding a scrap of white for the back, make it look like the false shirt front look like it goes all the way around...

As for fabric, the white is bridal fabric, the teal is a decent weight jaquard or something, and the dark blue is really lightweight, flimsy stuff from wall mart I bought ages and ages ago.

Gown finally complete!  I started in March, and took a month long break for my wedding.  The smock needs some adjustments, but, outside of that, some jewelry should finish it off.

love it!
so i suspect that wes and i will be seeing you on opening day at the MDRF???
i have yet to start my gown, i am having a fabric crisis, and a hoop skirt debacle!

This is a gorgeous gown. Even though I 'm not skilled/experienced enough to  sew a gown, I do make my own underpinnings and chemises. I need to make a partlet like that one for the gown I'm having made.
What doesn't kill me-had better run.

Woo Hoo!  Mixed media sewing!  Love it!

How did you stabilize the flimsy stuff?

LadyMeg

I used some pretty stiff cotton like stuff I snatched up with our theatre costume shop was tossing out scraps (which is where I actually found the bridal stuff).  I'm not 100% sure it'll hold up through rough wear, but then again, it didn't cost me a penny to make it, so...

And the sewing of it probably taught you loads, so it's always a useful exercise!   ;D ;D

Looks pretty good, and I especially like the mock shirt front.

Lady K, you are steamin' hot in your SPunk finery - and are a gorgeous brunette!  Howza about joining the SPunk invasion at TRF this year, 'k?
Sveethot!

Taffy!!

Not sure what is in store for TRF this year after having been to Scarby in May. I know I have work to do much of November and into December for Christmas Presents.

Just took these pics today. Same underskirt and chemise, but new skirt, bodice and french hood. Again, I used leftover fabric for the bodice and cuffs and the burgundy corduroy was in my stash. I did buy trim and beads.  :)
