I'm not sure if this counts - I do a lot of open mike nights where I read poetry.  A big part of my work is "adventure poetry" and some of my favorite adventure pieces are pirate-themed ("The Captain's Coat", "A Tale from Devil's Tavern", "It's In Me Blood") and I wear garb, or even pieces of it, when I know I am going to do one of the pirate poems at an event.  I've also done events where people know ahead of time what I'm going to read and they WANT me to come in garb.

I sometimes put my boots on with jeans, you know the ones from museum replicas limited... they're thin around the ankle, made of suede, i think... anyway, yeah, i wear them, and sometimes i wear the cuffs from museum replicas limited. when i get a good looking tunic i'm gonna wear that, and maybe a black utilikilt. i love those things.
I'm partially Scottish, partially Irish, and there's a small amount of Native American somewhere in there...

I can't WAIT to get a utilikilt....there just so dang expensive....(I say that while looking at my pirate costume that total cost was way more then a utilikilt.....)

The shoes I bought for Ren Fest last year were from payless, and I've worn them a couple of times since.  My jewelry easily works for both too.  When I am writing, I have been known to wear my full length dresses because it gets me in the state of mind of that era and helps inspire me.
I wish I could wear them more often.  I feel more like "me" when I wear them, which is probably why I've worn long, flowing dresses and skirts all my life.

I should put on my dress and go to the mall just for fun.  It would be great to see the reactions! :o If people look at me like I am weird, I'll look at them like they are the ones who are out of place! LOL  My son could wear his full length black wool robe too. (Think the Emperor from Star Wars.) He'd love to be able to do that!  What a pair we would make! ;)

On Saturday, April 24, I will be appearing and teaching at Weatherford College's "Books 'N Authors 'N All That Jazz" Book Festival.  The organizers, knowing of my background, have asked me to wear my piratical garb.  I'll try to get some pictures.  My wife and one of the other authors will also be there . . . in garb.  It should, to quote my soul sister, "a hoot"!
