Rani Zemirah

Hi,

This is my first meeting. My name is Zemirah, and I'm a fabricholic. (waves)

I'm not as organized as the rest of you. Most of my fabric still resides in shopping bags, lawn garbage bags and even grocery bags. I have yet to master the specific shopping maneuver (as in "I just got everything I need for my next dress all in one trip!"), and am still buying piecemeal. I find the best stuff that way, and everything usually ends up matching something else eventually.

My downfall is Hancock Fabrics. I spend as much time in there as money, and cannot leave without buying something, even if I'm just there as a chauffeur for my neighbor. However, I never buy things I won't use... well, mostly. Except for the truly hideous piece of of elk printed fleece that just happened to come in the grab bag that had 3/4 of a yard of the most incredible 60" wide butter colored Donegal Linen from Ireland!!! It even had Donegal Ireland Linen woven in contrasting white into the selvage. That I'm going to have to use for something all by itself! And it cost $1 for the bag... There was also a nice piece of gold shimmery sheer drapery that my little girl immediately claimed for the dress-up box, but I told her to keep her grubby little paws off the flounce of my next petticoat! Well, a little nicer than that, but you get the gist... LOL

Yes... in reality this whole post was for no other reason than to crow about the beautiful gem I found in the cast off scrap pile. I know it's not even a yard, but it is some of the softest, most gorgeous fabric I've ever touched, and I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it peeking out of the top of the bag.

OK, I'll go back to my happy dance now, and daydreaming about how exactly I'm going to use this stuff...

Okay, I bought 8 yards of a tapestry upholstery "italian" print to cover tables in my tent at Pennsic.
Oh, and 5 yards of this beautiful light upholstery tan and black strip fabric for a new pirate coat.
And maybe some new thread snipping scissors...
Yeah, and two new patterns.

Hey, it was Midnight Madness 50% off at JoAnn's! I paid only $3/yard for the fabric.

Did I mention the 16 yards of linen that's coming in from Fabric-store.com? But Mom, I redeemed my fabric points AND used a 7% off coupon!

::shuffles feet::

Now I need a fourth bin.

You haven't had enough coffee unless you can thread a sewing machine while it's running.

Only a fourth bin?

Darling, you're a baby at this, but you're developing well...   :-* :-*

I have a small stash, but can see that it will be growing. Went to Joann's today and bought a couple of yards of blue duponi silk that I have been drooling over for months. At 50% off, I felt justified in spending $15.00 a yard.  :o  I also bought 3 yards of brown duck cloth that was on the red tag table. Red tag price - $4.00/yd, sale price - $2.00/yd.

I also have some bolts of fabric and other pieces, but not enough to put into any crates. It'll happen though.

LadyStitch

After making my hubby and his flamingo's outfit I still have magenta denim , and carnation pink linen/cotton blend.  Both are calling to be made into something.  Then again my hubby is dragging me back to joann's wanting to know when the next sale is so he can add more to his outfits.  Oy!  just what I need an enabler.... :-\
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Taffy Saltwater

11 yards of 54" gold damask on a big drrr-drrr tube, almost 5 yards of sheer flocked Halloween fabric - skulls & spiders & scary, oh, my -,  woven trim, patterns, all in bags except for the damask.  None of it natural fabric & none of which I'm touching till I get a serger.  I'm hoping to get moved to a home of my own - next month, maybe - & get the rest out of storage.  Then I will have to buy some bins & organize.
Sveethot!

My house overfloweth with fabrics that I have bought for garb, mundane clothing, presents, and fun stuff.

I just bought 6 yards of a lovely Aqua Pailsey Flannel to make jammies for my daughter for Christmas.

I am definitely a Fabriholic for sure. Ya think  ?????????   ;D

10 yards of Linnen/wool in mud Brown? Well of course i need that....

Syrilla

I don't need help, I just need a trailer to pull behind my car!
A few days before I leave Louisiana, what do I do but run into the fabric store to pick up a yard of the old gold that I used for my sleeves and such.   Well, what I find just begging for a home, is a lovely light salmon ribbed silk with a slight hit of hot pink sheen (strange, but interesting) and a silk blend (I think) jacquard, that is hard to describe, in a light blue/green.  After I do a burn and a water test, It will be dyed either green or blue.  The salmon was $8.99 with 30% off and the blue/green was $4.99, and one yard was damaged so I get 10% off one yard!

When and what they will become, like everyone else here, Who knows.  But I have it ready, just in case.

Like I need more fabric!!!

I bought out yet another left over bolt of flannel to make a second pair of Pajamas for  my granddaughter for Christmas. I am at JoAnn Fabrics once a week it seems for something!!

So far I have made my granddaughter 2 pairs of pants, 1 skirt, 2 tops, as well as pajamas. I have been a sewing away since my husband has been on his road trip out West for over 2 weeks now.
