Wow, DragonWing, I REALLY like that first bolt that you got from the thrift store!  The others are very nice as well, but that first one is great!  Good job!

Nice scores, folks!

I have recently only been buying polycotton curtain lining and fabrics for customers...  But yesterday I went in for 5m of double width polycotton curtain lining (105" wide and £4.49m) and found a roll of RUST COLOURED COTTON SATEEN for £1.75m and I thought 'There's not a lot left on that roll... ' so I snaffled all 10m!  Got it home and it's an exact match for the linen I dyed for my polonaise.  Even better than the cotton that was part of a previous dying experiment or the polycotton sheeting I bought thinking it would go with another rusty bit that's in the stash...  So some of it will become polonaise lining and some will become stash/toile fabric.

I also got:

a 25m roll of triple fold (light plastic) 8mm corset boning (baleen replacement)
a 25m roll of double fold (light plastic) 10mm corset boning (baleen replacement)
a 20m roll of steel corset boning (12mm: great for hooped petticoats)
4 50m rolls of black 1" cotton tape
4 50m rolls of 1" white cotton tape
2 packs of waterproof sticking plasters!
1 500ml can of sewing machine oil
and a 18m roll of 2" wide beautiful quality cream broidery anglaise trim

for £56.81, including P&P and VAT.  The joys of dealing with wholesale purchasing!

One roll of white tape and some of the broidery anglaise will become a cage crinoline.  But unless I go in for making them in large numbers, I'll probably never run out of tape again!

On the other hand, I can't get the silk thread I want any cheaper than through my local small shop, which gives me preferential customer discount of 10%, so 25 80m reels of Coats 100 weight silk thread for sewing various silk projects cost me £56.25 rather than £62.50, so that has to be good as well.  And I'll get some of that back when I pass the thread I bought for my sewing pal on.

DragonWing

Thanks Butch, I really like it too. I know it is showing brown in the picture but is has a green over cast to it.

Ok this is a pattern score but you would appreciate.  I had to go out to vintage/ thrift stores looking for stuff for my show and while in one of them I found in near perfect condition with directions, and pattern from  1941. It is appsolutly adoreable.  Granted it is for a "size 12" but that is actually a 30 bust which is now a size 6 now a days.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Hey you all! I scored hugely at the Jo-Ann's 50% off of the already discounted stuff, so I found some raspberry linen for $2.00 a yard.  I also used my 50% off for some deep purple unwaled corduroy.  I scored 45 yards of fabric for $70.00!!! Awesome!

I am preparing to go to Estrella and I hope to get some pictures from around there!!!!

Ok! I busted loose at SR Harris today and dropped a wad.

5 1/2 yards of a lovely  60" wide Tapestry to make a Doublet with detachable sleeves for my son-in-law. $7.49 a yard with special coupon. Very unique pattern, rich warm colors. The left overs could make a second doublet/Jerkin. The just under 2 yards of medium wale  Chocolate Brown Corduroy for Venetians at $4.50 a yard.

Stuff for the play I am  doing, which inluced 15 yards of an eyelet cotton for 3 Petticoats, 4 yards of a nice Quilt weight cotton for an 1880's blouse, Chocolate Brown Satin to make bias strps for the Eton Jacket.

Then, I found the most lovely deep Eggplant shade of Taffeta with soft silver shimmered roses on it for a Victorian ensemble I want to make in time for CONVergence. The perfect Steampunk ensemble that I probably will compete. Another unique fabric. I bought 8 yards at $4.50 a yard.

Total came to $184. I'm insane, I know it. The thing about SR Harris is this, you see a unique fabric; you buy enough of it because you might never see it again on your next trip.

After reconsidering what I was going to do with the Eggplant shaded Taffeta with the Black/Silvery shimmery flowers, I decided to make an 18th Century gown instead. The Underskirt and Period Dust ruffle will be in Black Bengaline Taffeta.

I have had this pattern for some time, as well as patterns for the Undergarments. I have weanted such a gown for years now. A start on my Duchess of Devonshire collection with a slight Vampire touch.

I picked up two items this weekend.
First is a taffeta, for new sleeves and forepart.

This one is for a high necked smock for me. Both to wear with my red dress.

Anyone what the name of this kind of fabric is? 100% cotton. The stitching is so beautiful.

From what I can see this looks like more of an embroidered Cotton Voile. Sheer, light weight, yet comfortable to wear in any weather. As  a nice touch of lace for the ruff ends.

Lady I, that first fabric is beautiful! It looks like strapwork! Can I ask where you bought it?

I am trying to decide what possible need I would ever have for a royal/cobalt blue synthetic taffeta flocked with black damask patterns. I saw it last week and haven't been able to get it out of my head since. It was obviously party/prom dress fabric. It would make a pretty forepart, but there's nothing in my current or future garb plans that involves cobalt blue! I need enabling suggestions before I commit. Hee!

At a place called SAS in Tempe, Arizona. $5.99 a yard! I think it's so beautiful! The store was crazy, no real organization. But everything was priced really good.
The white fabric is from Joanns. $12.99 a yard. But I had a 40% off coupon. They only had 3 pieces of it. Ended up
being 3.33 yards altogether. Just enough to do the smock from me. I'm a size 18/20 on patterns so I had to be a little creative
on my pattern placement. There will be enough left over to make two hankies with.

Gem, Is your cobalt very expensive? I say buy it and tuck it away if you really love it. You can take it out and admire it now and again and perhaps one day you'll find the perfect project for it. Maybe use it to make those cute garters Anea made or as a trim as you mentioned to me. Something that wouldn't necessarily require an entire cobalt color sceme.

Of course you could be strong and say no..... :D

You can always buy it and send it to me. I will pay for it! Blue is my FAVORITE color and cobalt is in the top 2 or 3 of shades of blue!  ;D

Seriously, if it's possessing your thoughts so much, you need to buy it and stash it otherwise, fabric regret will certainly be in your future.
