Just spent $100 on 8 Indian saris and 5 skirts, most of which will be used for project sewing... although some will be kept as is or altered only slightly for garb.  3 saris are 6+ yards, and the rest are 4+ yards.  I already have plans for 4 of the saris... a few new 25 yard skirts will be making appearances this year!  :D

Found them on craigslist...

Ooh, Amy, that brocade is pretty!

I was bad today. I was at Joanns to pick up some buttons and trim for my 40s sailor playsuit, and to help my mom pick out some fabric to upholster her new chairs, when I stumbled across this beautifully quilted ivory home dec fabric - perfect for a quilted petticoat. And it was 50% off, plus I had a 20% off of my total purchase coupon, so it went from being $27.99/yd to somewhere around $11.50/yd. So even though I had to special order my cut, which won't be here for 2 to 6 weeks (they only had 2 yds left, and I needed 2 2/3), I'm going to have a super pretty quilted petticoat!

Eventually I'll finish the one by hand. But I'm certainly looking forward to one that I won't have to stress over!

I get remnents to make stuffies for crafts faires and I went into the fabric section to get thread.. then walked out with like 30 remnent rolls... All I gotta say is I have to make a BUNCH of monsters and critters now.

The line at Joann's was terrible last night, AND there was a jerk mouthing off to his wife & the clerk.  We were there to pick up more supplies for the PP's next puppet project.  I had to make myself stay there otherwise I would have been over at the clearance and remenant bins  looking for stuff for the Fuzzlet.  I still have 3 outfits to cut out already, I don't need any more at the momment.

Aww come on she'll be the prettiest little pirate baby ever!

LadyStitch

Oh I know she will be adorable, but I was told to "Cut back on making things for kiddo" (Why I'm not completly sure.) I want to finish the projects I already have before I make anything else.  Trust me, we will be testing my resolve as we have to go back for more stuff for the PP's project.  He needs more terry cloth.  Funny we have been going to more fabric stores for HIM than me lately :)

Yeah I was bad yesterday.  I had an hour to kill, and i needed to be in AC.  I went to the Joann's 1 mile from the PP's work, and sat at the pattern counter.  I was good, I only came home with 5 patterns, but 3 of those are for simple Christmas presents we are making.
And I only came home with 2 pieces of remenants. I found a remenant of "I love Grandma" fleece.  That is enough to make a simple sweater/ jacket for Fuzzlet this winter. Then enough of a pink with white dots simple jumper.  I'm thinking of making this just to hear her grandma squeal.  So she may only wear the jacket 1 time, but I think it will be worth it for grandma's smile.  ;D

Hello, my name is SyRilla and I fell off the bandwagon.  I had to, Really!  It was $5 a yard, chocolate brown, low slubbed, and SILK!!!  I could just see a Queen gown in Chocolate and Gold!  Lots of Gold....

Good news or bad news?

Our local WalMart Supercenter remodeled a couple of years ago, and got rid of the fabric department. Well, they are in the process of bringing it back! They have the cutting table, and some of the bolts of fabric, they're just waiting on the printers to print the tags. Maybe the powers-that-be listened to the customers?

Yeah! I am not the only one. My Wal-Mart within the past month started stocking fabric again. Though it is not as big as the one they ripped out  :'(  But I hope they have their $1/$1.50 fabrics back again. I usually found good deals there and got in bad trouble.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

Our walmart brought the fabric section back too.
I asked the girl who is the head of the department and she said that they brought it back because so many people nation wide complained.
They even have fabrics on their website now.

ours doesnt have many of the inexpensive fabrics like they did before, but they have some nice fabrics

Does trim count???? sigh... 2" wide gold textured ribbon, and 1" bullion looking ribbon. Lovely!  .50 cents a yard!  Might go perfectly with the brown silk...

Alysea

Well we have two Walmart Super centers in my county hopefully one of them will get a fabric department.  They are plenty big enough.  yeah for the power of the people. ;)

I'm in one of those unusual places in the country where there are actually at least two Joanns, two Hancocks, and a Beverly's craft store closer than the nearest Walmart. But I'm glad to hear they're bringing the fabric sections back! It was a stupid move to get rid of them in the first place.
