I saw this at my Hobby Lobby and my first thought was forepart, but printed fabrics fade notoriously fast.

I can think of an inside lining to a cloak.

Possibly a forepart and set of sleves due to how busy the pattern is.

A cloak!  That's the first thing I thought of, too! ;D

It's now telling me it wants to be curtains (or a Roman shade... a window treatment of some variety). I have no idea why it's saying this. I don't really have an available window to dress! It might just have to become stash. Still waiting on a coupon, though. $9/yard is a little steep for something that doesn't yet have a purpose.

Perhaps it wants to be a carpetbag?

Went to SR HArris today after a meeting for CONVegence.

I bought more Grey Corduroy for another Pirate Coat I have been commissioned to make.

In addition I also bought a  soft grayish/Tan Linen and a lovely textured Decorator weight Creme Cotton for Merlin's variation of Gandalf the White's Cloak and long gown. I still need to find a soft steel grey/blue textured fabric for the vest. The Undergarments will be easy to find fabric for. The trim for the cloak has a grey/blue background with creme and tan accents in a scrolled gimp design.

This is the inspiration..

I found a websaite that sells LoTR official replica merchandise, like Gandalf's Cloak Clasp, for a hefty price. But I will be on the hunt for a clasp that looks similar from Artisans at Ren faires first. Support the local Artisans. That is their livelihood as well.

Well, I went back to HL yesterday to buy fabric to line my sleeves with, and the printed canvas was on sale. So I bought 4 yards of it!

I'm still not sure what it wants to be, but it keeps volunteering itself for projects! LOL  Its latest suggestions have been a flat cap or a GAOP-era long waistcoat to wear with my new brown wool frock coat. HL also had some pretty butternut brown cotton broadcloth that would make a perfect skirt to go with it. Decisions, decisions!

Why is it you just go to Hancock's to get a few patterns and the fabric just jumps into the buggy by itself???? ???

Oh good. I'm not the only one that happens to.

Wife: "I thought you were just going to get buttons for the doublet sleeves."

Me: "I was."

Wife: "Well, then what's all this fabric?"

Me: "Don't know. It just jumped into the cart. And who am I to deny it a good home?"

Soooo pretty!  I think the waistcoat idea sounds dreamy.

Yes, especially with the brown frockcoat and skirt.

So not all our adictions have a happy ending.... but buying still more ebay fabric to stash for linings and chemises and such I negoiated her to throw in 4 yards of an upholstery brocade she also had.  when you get something you don't expect, you can treat yourself to something you wouldn't normally make.   A true Bonanza!

So what do you think?  My first ever pirate coat?   Could be fun.

That's why I carry a squirt bottle with me.  Seems to work on cats..... ;)
