English Gable

Just wondering if anyone has tried to make an English Gable Hood. If so did you use a pattern and which one. Did you use cardboard or Buckrum or some other inner material. I'm very tempted to try and tackle one and also a French Hood which I have Lynn McMasters patterns. ANy suggestions?

I haven't created a gable hood yet but I have done a French hood.   I'd suggest using plastic canvas and just cut it to the shapes you need.  The reason is simply that, if you get caught in the rain, you don't need to worry about your hood "melting" like it would with buckram.  :-)  Plastic can get wet.

I used white craft foam for the French hood I made. Worked really well.

I did a gable hood not long back...  This was for a child's dressing up project, but I did the hood as well as I could, just too see what I could make it come out like...

As beautiful as they are, Gabled Hoods are not the easiest of headwear to make.

I did a quai-Gabled Hood for a play years ago, but what I know now as to how they are made, I need to take a class on them.
