Lady Kathleen, your pleating is phenomenal... I'll have to show you mine and see if you can give me some tips... it took me an eternity!!!

How did you make that neck ruff?  Did you do all the blackwork yourself?  Is that gold work on the edges?

Thank you, Lady Elizabeth!!! We met finally last year at Minnesota Renaissance Festival on that very wet and rainy Sunday in September.

The Ruff in question is a Quilter's Broadcloth I bought the rest of the bolt of back in June of 2007 from JoAnn's that I used for a pair of Bloomers for the wife of Ottheinrich. It was so lovely, I am using it for a temporary chemise for the Pelican Portrait gown I am making. The Gold Needlelace trim is also from JoAnn's,

As for the Cartridge Pleating, I use the 1" wide Gingham that is underlined with one layer of Cotton Canvas Duck.

I am in the process of going downstairs to the Dungeon to do more work on the bodice.

The Finished Bodice with small shoulder tabs.

I cut a sizeable piece of the Dupioni Silk on the bias and made a binding to finish the raw edges. The small tabs are hand sewn from underneath where there are rings for the ties of the sleeves to attach. Now on to the Shoe Repair for grommetting. There will be a Modesty panel sewn afterwards to accommodate those fluctuations we women have be it water or a few pounds.

The finished Bodice without the tabs. Here you can see more of the Silk Bias binding. It was not difficult to do. I cut 2" wide pieces, sewed them together. I made 1/2" seams, folded over the extra, and then did the invisible slip stitch on the inside attached to the lining.

Lady Kathleen, what a wonderful gown!!!

Here is a a middle class dress I made last year, sorta at the last moment, out of linen I had around.

This is the only picture I have of me wearing it at MIRF last year.  Unsure who took the pic.  I think maybe Sicari(did I spell that right?).

I didn't have enough fabric to do a proper skirt.  So I did a gored skirt that ended up being about 3yards at the top and close to 5yds at the bottom hem.  I tried cartridge pleating it and it was bad.  So I took it apart and put a few pleats in the back and it is much better.

I still need to sew it to a new waist band, it's just all pinned together here.  It looks kinda funny there in the pic because my hoop skirt is falling apart.  Guess that will be my next project in progess.

I am want to add skirting to the bodice and maybe some more trim.  If I can find something that isn't to fancy that catches my eye.

A Spanish Noble ensemble for a Boy I am working on...Friar Rohn's nephew.

The Contrast Fabric is  quilter's weight cotton ina  Chocolate Brown with swirls that have more of a Moorish look to it.

Side Sleeve view showing Black Piping and Button detail. Friar Rohn sent me the fabric for the Doublet.

The back view detailing the pattern of the fabric. This was an eBay find. The fabric is a durable Tapestry great for Doublets, as well as furniture Upohlstery.

Now onto the Italian Bonnet and Paned Slops.
