Love Good Wood

Just finished making my first pair of Ren Boots... still need to add the soles, but here are some pics (they were pretty easy to make)

now I have to start working on the rest of my new garb!

Manwariel

They look nice. What did you make them out of?

well since it was my first try I didn't want to spend too much... so i got some micro suede type material from Wal-Mart for like $14... it also has an inner lining of black denim

WOWZA!!!

Great job and great idea!  DO let us know how they hold up.  Did you use a pattern or draft them directly off your legs/feet?

Love Good Wood

i did like the "duct tape double" version on my leg... basically put your leg in a trash bag, and wrap tape around it... i did it tight and cut it off (cut in 3 parts sole, left side, right side) put a towel over it and iron it as smooth as possible... then i traced it out adding 1 inch on all sides... trimmed and sewed a sample... then you just have to adjust here and there till you get it the way you want it (be careful right at the bend of your foot... if you get it too tight you'll never get it on)... after i got my sample right i took it apart and made a new pattern... and the rest is what you see in the pics... for the soles i'm gonna use some old "flip flops" that have formed to my foot (they're about 3/4" thick)... i'm gonna use something called "gorilla glue"... it's supposed to hold anything together... i'll put up some new pics when I get the soles on...

these were REALLY easy to make and I'm a novice at sewing... everyone should try it

Tygrkat

You should be fine with the Gorilla glue, just be sure to let it cure long enough before wearing them (48 hours should be sufficient). I've repaired shoes (and TONS of other things  ;D) with Gorilla Glue before, and it definitely does the job!

Your boots look fantastic, especially for a first try!

I started to make a pair of black suede boots for myself in 2007. I tried them on the other day and need to make some adjustments, but they should work. Good idea about the duct tape pattern for boots!
