A patchwork of ideas, passions, and individuals painting their respective colors upon the fabric of a wooded festival . . .
A business of conscience and values
A place where friends gather and become family around a campfire drumming circle

Thank each of you for assisting in making this faire become a reality . . . when in a year thousands will gather under the protection of Robin of Loxley and his merry men to celebrate the coming of Spring

a thicket
away a bit from the village
a refuge
a hideaway
an escape
a gathering to celebrate the coming of spring
the ending of the cold of winter
a time of song and lifting up one's stein in cheer
a time of friendship and merriment amidst the burdens of life
a time to set aside the worries and woes to glory in the moment
of fellowship
commoners, merchants, peasants and nobility walking, singing, eating and gaming side by side
sherwood forest--a sanctuary for a season!

I am a local ( McDade) interested in becoming part of the  "troupe" or vending my massage skills in the Forest. I am planning on being there for the FEB 28 open gate.  I'll be looking forward to meeting you then,,,

In a world of alienation
In a time when the human spirit is reduced to a number
In a moment when more is learned and less is understood
A people created the illusion of going back in time
   when things were simpler
   when relationships more honest
And they donned themselves in costume
    of warriors, maidens, pirates and wenches
They drank
They played
They burned sage and beat drums
They felt the silver cord the mystics speak of that links matter and soul
They laughed and cried
   and danced to set aside their pretenses for a day, a night, a weekend or a season

Some from a distanced jeered
Some from a distance made jest
   but most from afar only wished they were part of the illusion

And so the gypsies wandered through the crowds
Troubadors strummed their lyres
Knights jousted on horseback
And the wenches sang their bawdy songs

A Renaissance Faire was born

it is march
and spring is about us
the flowers and trees
though wanting and needing water for sustanance
are blooming and budding
this is the time of year
when we will be celebrating the opening of sherwood
a fortress
a sanctuary
a gathering of friends and family
in a wood protected by robin of loxley
and his comrades
we will dance and sing
eat and drink
and listen to the troubadours
and watch the jesters and actors entertain
our children will play hide-and-seek, run sack races,
swing, and find themselves on stage
and we will walk the grounds
and mingle among nobles and peasants
make a purchase or two
and find our hearts festive in the moment
it is spring
we need to rejoice!

and in the year of preparation
we will build fence
erect our chapel
prepare the grounds
build a booth to sell our wares
and spread the word
of a festival made of heart and spirit
for all to enjoy

and we shall call it
sherwood forest faire

we are heading to overseas tomorrow, march 12, thru 28th, buying items
made for Sherwood Forest Faire.

the grounds guys continue building stages and fence in our absence

hope the post office box will be filled with new apps upon our return

yall wont believe what we will have for the seven sisters stone circle.   i think you will feel the power and be excited that we are building a faire with such high expectations for authenticity, spirit, and soul.

have no idea why the frowny faces appeared.  spirits, i assume. 

no, no...all is fantastic here.

spent the day with a sign painter having some 40+ signs ordered.

the obelisks for the stone circle will knock your socks off. 

the wagons, carts, wheelbarrows are awesome.

tomorrow we meet with a guy about the pub's bar.  not carved, huge slab of wood.  very lord of the rings type realism for the pub bar.

the chess pieces are incredible.
