More hoop skirt questions

For some reason, my hoop skirt seems to always be higher in the back than in the front. I think I remember a topic in the old forum dealing with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean that the hoops stick out farther in the back than the front or that your skirt hem is higher in the back?
I have heard of a heavy beaded forepart making the hoops stick out in the back but don't recall the remedy for that. If you are meaning that your hem is higher in back are you wearing a bum roll? If so, did you take that into account when hemming your skirt? I have used the skirt length worksheet http://www.sempstress.org/patterns/math/skirtlengthworksheet.shtml with excellent results.

The actual skirt is the same length all around and pretty much covers the hoop skirt. The entire thing just seems to be *lifted* in the back.

Hmm...The lifted in the back thing sounds like there's more weight pushing the front. I don't have any ideas for fixing that. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

At the risk of causing exhaustion...

Perhaps skirt weights?   Small washers that could be sewn into the back hem, or hooked on somehow for easy removal when cleaning.

How does the hoop skirt fit in front? Does it close all the way or is there a gap in the fabric? If there is a gap in the fabric it might be leading to less support in the front so the hoops would be pushed back under the weight of the skirt. I started making hoops for Victorian dresses and we were actually going for that effect. I've never attempted to make hoops for ren-wear. Could you possibly post pictures so we can really see what is going on?
