My friend and I were talking about lacing our bodices today (my best friend and I also work together, she's a new rennie) and a different coworker says there is one way to lace a bodice.  I know there are many different ways to lace a bodice and/or corset but I can't find anywhere on line that proves my point.  Does anyone know where I can find a book, magazine or website on the different ways to lace a bodice or corset?  THe more info the better, I would like to learn as much about it as I can.  Thanks for everyone's help a head of time!

There was a topic on here a couple of weeks, maybe a month or so ago, that told of different ways to lace them.  And some possible benefits to it.  Hopefully one of the other more knowing Ladies will come and point it out  ;D

I'm sure one of our link goddesses will come along sometime this evening to provide examples but along with the standard "x" lacing that a lot of us do, there is also ladder lacing and spiral lacing and I'm sure others!

I have a bodice that I need to let out a bit with the way that I lace it...It has back and side laces...Would most of you make a gap with the sides and the back, or just the sides or just the back?  I like the front to lace up tight or mostly tight.  Let me know your suggestions.

I would say it depends on how the armseye is cut.  Will the boning poke you in the underarm if you leave a gap?  Will it ride up?

Try it at home beforehand.

I have a leather bodice that laces in multiple places - center front, left and right front, under both arms, left and right back, and center back.  It's lock laced under the arms, and the only gap is at the back.

Excellent point about the underarm boning, captmarga!  I was thinking to gap under the arms, but you've made me rethink having the gap on the back only instead.
