Jumping in as a quick blip....  Everyones garb is stunning!  Friar, The chains of office really do look splendid!  Now we'll just need to see the complete ensamble on you!

The suit was made for my youngest nephew who is 11. My taste's are a little more simple, plus I'm shaped along the lines of Henry VIII.....don't think it'll fit my slight Love Handles. I had purchased a friare's suit from Armstreet, turned out to be another eBay horror story.....so I'll be mundane again this season. Although, I was visiting the Castle this weekend shooting photos of the final preparation weekend for the staff and volunteers and mentioned it to a couple of the ladies and before I knew it they were sizing me for a suit. It felt strange, mainly because I'm the one who volunteers, they said then after I'm done that they could put it in the costume shop (Lady Kathleen may be encouraged to lower her standards and find some time in her off season to clothe a simple poor old friar).

Back to the Chains......it was a lucky find. Most listings on eBay are cheap plastic stuff best hawked on corners to passing semi drunks during Mardi Gras. These were listed as possibly Masonic......nope. We have a long line of Masons in our family and it's not that, none of the usual symbols. I liked them because they were elegant, but not ostentatious (as one of my friends would say "Parade Gay"....and trust me....I'm about to post some new photos of a doublet and slops that are the exact opposite of Lady Kathleen's design). The whole suit it tastefully done and he had a ton of middle and high school kids approaching him, all with good comments (OK.....we're in Oklahoma......he could be wearing hot pink go-go boots, all the kids go for the crossbow first and that's what they will remember the most......it's a Okie Guy Thing).

Very nice work all!  I do enjoy seeing what has and is being done by the group.  Here is my contribution to the cause.  This is a shift to the left (fantasy).  A dragon hunter who is becoming her prey.  I am looking forward to getting a good photo of her in the garb with the prosthetic scales on her neck and forehead and the make up to support it.

There are enough photos that I thought it prudent to use the link - I was uploading as updates for the client.

That is really nicely done.  I love the 'rips' and other details.  Can't wait to see pix of her in the full kit.

Ok, I finished my "Summer Tudor" dress that I can wear in the warmer months (provided mandatory overtime at work allows me to even GO to faire this year  :-\ )  I Also made a parasol holder after reading all about them on the boards...  Hope you like it!  ('scuse the mess behind/around the dress...the sewing room was in upheaval from a garage sale!)

Nice work Amyj.
Question for you. Did you hand stitch or machine stitch the trim? I have similar trim I need to attach to a robe this weekend and not sure which way to go on it. Thanks for any input.

I actually machine sewed (slowly) the trim, but I hand sewed the beads on the underskirt.  The parasol holder is a piece of craft store leather that I put  leather  jewels on (the stuff I guess you can use on leather jackets?) and cut in the shape of a bracer! :)  I'm kinda pleased with that!
Thanks for the "Yays"!  I'm pretty happy with it...now, let's hope it fits well in the heat and humidity of St. Louis summers!  ;D

One of our forum regulars uses a leather bracer for a Parasol holder. My bracers are too heavy to hang from my belts. I plan to sew a ring and hang it in the back off the waistband of 2 of my skirts.

Lovely gown Amyj!!  If you used all natural fibers, you will be fine in the humidity of St. Louis.
