Thanks Dona. :)

Of course, mens garb is so much less interesting than womens.. I might have to consider going in drag just to give me a chance to make something cool. ;D   Or find myself a nice girl... (either case doesn't seem very likely though :()

LadyShadow

I think the first option would be most funny.  But best of luck with the second.

;D You obviously haven't seen much of my husband's garb. Some of it is more elaborate than mine.

It is wonderful to see all of the great outfits!  Great job on all that hard work.  Tcindie, Luciana, Dragonwing and others.... Keep it up!

This is what I've finished thus far for what I'm working on for this year:

Also have to whip up another basic shirt/pants set for a friend and at least one more shirt for myself.. gotta have options. :)

Well done! It is a shame that simpler garb doesn't get as much attention as the blinged out stuff.

Nice job tcindie.  I really like the shirt.

You know, you're right.. and maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way.. Like good special effects in a movie, perhaps the work put into a basic piece should be 'invisible' in that people just see it and go, yep, that looks good, but don't obsess over all the little details and such.

Don't mind me, I'm way beyond tired and probably not making much sense at the moment. ;)

My latest creation:

The camera didn't capture the color quite right.

I altered and merged a couple of patterns and the fit didn't end up being quite right, but it turned out okay.

LadyElizabeth

First try at your own pattern never is perfect, but I think it looks wonderful.  Looks quite comfy too.

looks good.  and you have to always thank cameras for never getting the color right.

Actually - you are making a great deal of sense.  It's easy to see how the blinged out pieces get all the ohhhhh's and ahhhh's.  Spangles, trims and fur really do draw a ton of visual attention.  Things like cut and fit don't really stand out to those who don't know what they are looking at.

A 'simple' outfit may be more difficult to do well because all you have to stand on is how well you accomplish your craft rather than being able to slop sew an upper class outfit and then cover all the errors with bling and trim.

As a vegetarian, I have been grossed out by, and yet have still desired to own, a Zibellini. But I just haven't been able to wrap my mind around the thought of carrying a dead animal around all day...

So, Lords and Ladies, may I present you with: The Cruelty-Free Zibellini!  Made from strips of faux fur, with aglets on the feet and pearls for eyes.

Sure, it's a little cheezy, but it's cute! and it looks pretty close to the real thing. and hey, my conscience is clear =)
