This isn't exactly a Ren Faire thing but we've been going to a few civil war reenactments and they always have some great cooking areas set up with their cast iron goodies. I love cast iron and love the idea of cooking over an open fire with cast iron. Especially when camping. So, I always take pictures of the fire pits that I like. Here's a few shots of what I mean.

And our friend doing some grease draining while we were camping a year or two ago.

You know what Jon, cast iron cooking is awesome. I used my Dutch oven (No pun intended). To cook Wassail at Christmas time, and it come out nicely. My next projects are some beef stews, chili, maybe a full on breakfast. Yeah, cooking over a wood fire is always better than a stove in the summer. I mean winter it's iffy the weather has to be just right.

I'm pretty new here so I hope it's ok if I play along too. Here are some of my favorite photos that I've taken (just a couple).

Civil war cannon on top of Kennesaw Mountain. This was right before it started pouring and my friends and I had to grab our stuff and run for the car.

Hilton Head Island, July of 2007 - This little guy was only about 3/4 inch across and fell out of a piece of drift wood that I picked up on the beach.

On the porch of Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville in Cozumel, Mexico. Last October right before Halloween. I'd never seen water so clear and beautiful in my life.

Little boy at Amicalola Falls Lodge in north GA. I don't like taking pictures of kids usually because I'm afraid the parents will see me and think I'm some kind of weirdo, but the look on his face was just too precious to pass up. He was watching a wild life show on local birds of prey. The lady was, at the time, holding a barn owl who squarely refused to cooperate.

Hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do!

Dustin as always nice photos my friend. I especially love ones taken of water in the spring or summer with the sun light reflecting off the water but word to the wise (If you are ever out on the water and the sunlight is reflecting off of it make sure to wear sunblock because the end result is extremely painful. I had to learn the hard way several years ago. OUCH!)

BazookaBaby for a first timer on here those pictures you took were not bad at all. I loved them all by the way.

Here's one from my recent trip to Tennessee. This was at the Salt Kettle Rest Area, west of Danville, IL, on westbound I-74.

Thanks Dinobabe. The campfire shots were from two different civil war reenactments.
