Im looking at some pieces on ebay by Von Lancelot.  Their photos seem almost costumey to me, but maybe Im just being persnickety.

Any feedback would be great.  Im seriously explanding my garb closet and dont know were to turn first!

Thanks all!

I haven't looked at the link yet, but just by the way you described them as being costumey...  well even if you're being picky, that right there tells me that if you buy something, you may wind up regretting it just because from first glance it already doesn't suit your tastes in what you like to wear.  Save the money to purchase something that REALLY catches your eye and you don't think appears costumey.

(skipping off to check out the link!....  probably should have done that first, lol) ;)

1. Nude mannequins?  REALLY tacky.

2. For fantasy-inspired garb, I think some of their stuff is actually really pretty (like that pirate bodice-jacket thing!).  Nothing H/A there, but that doesn't make it bad.

3. Overall, I was going to say precisely what Fortune did: if you think it looks "costumey," which sounds like a bad thing, why would you buy something of theirs?  I guess I don't understand that, either.

OK, forgetting, for a moment, the title of this outfit "Sexy renaissance somthing blah blah" I really like this combination!  Am I very wrong!?!  LOL

The dress color, the tunic.  I think it's terrific.  However, moleskin?  I can't decide if it screams "SHAM-WOW" which means I'll soak up all the rain, or does it say warm and snuggly for the October weekend?  Hmmm...
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

I...kinda like it!  Yeah, I'm not crazy about the whole outfit made out of a shammy, but (maybe with a slight change to the outer coat sleeves) I could see that being a nice warm faire outfit for the cooler months.

Do you know if they make one of a kind pieces? or whether each style is mass produced?

I would look through their 'completed listings' to see how many of the same style have sold, mostly because I wouldn't want to look like some kind of off the rack model  :-\

No experience with the vendor per se--but yes to experience with moleskin fabric...which alot of the outfits seem to be made from...it's pretty and drapey and soft and HOT!!!    Please, PLEASE if you decide to buy something from this vendor (or any other in general actually) take into account the temperature of the faire you're going to be wearing it to...been there, done that...not fun.  Good luck!

There are several seamstresses right here on r/f.com also!
Post yourself a thread, decribing what you want.
You'll be *much* happier with your garb, IMHO!

Research first, figure out what style, and  color you want, it will speed the process along!

Thank you for your answers, everyone.  Youre right, why would I purchase something I already dont like the look of?  Silly me!

As for posting on here looking for a seamstress, should I post here in garbing or over in sewing?
